This order established the policy on
searches and inspections of cadets during
approved activities conducted in Canada or
abroad.

General

medicine,
environmental, etc.) of buildings and sites
in areas under the control of the
Department of National Defence or the
Canadian Forces (owned or leased) are
governed by law, including but not
limited to the National Defence Act, and
Queens Regulations and Orders for the
Canadian Armed Forces. This type of
inspection may be conducted without
parental consent by Canadian Armed
Forces members or civilian employees
appointed by the applicable authority.

means a substance whose possession is either
illegal or controlled by law, and included in
Schedule I, II, III, IV or V of the Controlled
Drugs and Substances Act;

In Canada, a search is defined as an
examination of a person or property, including a
persons house or other buildings, premises, or
vehicle, with the aim to discover contraband,
illicit or stolen property, or some evidence of
guilt to be used in the prosecution of an offence.

examen dune personne ou de sa proprit,
notamment de sa maison ou dautres btiments,
des lieux ou de son vhicule afin de dcouvrir
des objets interdits, illicites ou vols, ou encore
une preuve de culpabilit destine tre utilise
en cas de poursuite engage pour une infraction.

In circumstances where there is thought to
be reasonable grounds to search a cadet,
including but not limited to his/her person,
luggage, locker(s), quarters as well as effects
and equipment under his/her care, the
Commanding Officer or his/her representative
shall contact the Military Police or civilian
police, whichever applies, who will either
obtain parental consent to conduct the search or
seek lawful authority to do so through a search
warrant.

Lorsquil existe des motifs raisonnables
de fouiller un cadet, ce qui comprend sans sy
limiter, sa personne, ses bagages, son casier,
sa chambre ainsi que les effets et le matriel
dont il a la charge, le commandant ou son
reprsentant doit communiquer avec les

comptentes, qui obtiendront le consentement
crit des parents pour procder la fouille ou
saddresseront aux autorits comptentes pour
obtenir un mandat de perquisition.

CONSENTEMENT PARENTAL
32. Des inspections, telles quon les dcrit cidessus, peuvent tre effectues pendant une
activit autorise une condition : le formulaire
de consentement des parents doit non seulement
inclure une attestation autorisant lenfant y
participer mais galement une autre, tout le
moins, autorisant les FAC effectuer des
inspections, y compris des prcisions. En aucun
cas est-il possible pour les parents de consentir
la participation de leur enfant sans consentir
la tenue dinspections.
