Civil Engineers
They design, supervise, and maintain large construction projects, such as: bridges, dams,
and water supply systems.
o They analyze survey reports and maps.
o Consider the costs of building, and the regulations involved.
o Use design software to design the projects to be built.
In order to get the job you could and probably should have an internship. Next level is to
be a Civil Engineering Technician.
o A technician is once step below the engineer.
They do most of the drafting and drawing for the engineer to present.

My dad owns his own civil engineering company and it has always interested me in what
he did. Now I work there and it seems like something that I could improve on and keep
doing for a while.

Environmental Engineer
Environmental Engineers use biology, chemistry, and soil science to develop solutions to
problems. They make efforts to improve recycling and water and air pollution control.
o Investigate reports.
o Design projects to lead to environmental protection.
o Do quality control checks.

Before you become one you might want to become an environmental engineering
technician.
This doesnt fit as well as the first but it is still a good match.
o It doesnt involves much contact with people so thats a downside.
o It does involve the outdoors and that fits with me really well.
o You need to have good thinking skills to do the job.
It is mostly working with the outdoors and I would like to be outside sometimes for my
career.

You need to have your high school diploma, and for certain jobs you may need a college
degree.
o You have to go through a police academy.
o You can take psychology in high school.
I like to be in the outdoors and with this career I will be outside all the time.

Most people before they become a fish hatchery manager, do some work on a farm to
learn how to care for animals.

It is interesting because it teaches you how fish grow and you get to work in the outdoors.
