‘Document No: OG-013 para 5.3 Issue : 2 Rev: 0 5.3 Welding 5.3.1 Welding Procedure + Ensure welding procedures are approved by Client or review and approved the welding procedures if the authority to approve has been delegated to the Inspector by the Client. + Ifrequired, witness welding procedure qualifications. On completion of procedure qualification, all documentation including mechanical test record shall be signed by the Inspector and retumed to Vendor for submission to Client. + Review welders and operators qualifications to ensure they are qualified for the welding process and material being used. + Ifrequired, witness qualification of welders and operators. On completion of this, all documentation including non-destructive testing or mechanical test record shall be signed by the Inspector and returned to Vendor for retention as records. These records need not be submitted to Client for approval unless specifically instructed to do so. 5.3.2 Pre-Production Welding * Cheek fi-up ofat least the first plate joint and pipe joint after tack welding to assure good fabrication practices are being followed. * Cheek critical dimensions to make sure allowances for shrinkage are observed. * Check weld bevel surfaces for cleanliness and for freedom from burrs. * Cheek fabrication sequences for conformance with approved method of fabrication. 5.3.3 During Production Wekling ‘+ Monitor the application of approved welding procedures. ‘+ Monitor welding to ensure proper welding sequence to minimize warpage and distortions especially during welding of the hull and bearing support. ‘+ Monitor the control of consumables + Ensure that welders and welding operators are qualified for the particular joint they are welding, 5.2.4 Post Production Welding * Cary out visual inspection for weld quality. heck for dimensional tolerances. ‘+ Identify weld joints for Non-Destructive Test.
