GOALS:
Continue to expand and deepen the students knowledge of settler
Australia
Allow students to explore and contrast the stories of both an
Australian convict and a free settler
Encourage students to participate in class discussions
Encourage students to work productively individually
Allow students to find their own Australian settler story using ICT to
make a presentation
LESSON OUTCOMES AND INDICATORS
Be able to give similarities and differences between the free settler
and the convict of Australia
Be able to actively contribute at least once in class discussion
Be able to connect what they have learnt in previous class with what
they have been shown this class
Show an ability to locate information relevant to the topic using ICT

LESSON PROCEDURE
Introduction/focusing activity (The lesson begins with this activity.)

Write down todays focus on the board before class commences


Follow up on homework
Settle the class and make connections with what they have
done in the previous class and what is expected in todays class
Handout the convict/settler stories reading to the sheet and ask
each student to read aloud a section. Remember to stop them
after each one and ask them questions for discussion
Lesson development
Teacher
Introduce the assessment task to students by handing out the
worksheet and making links to what they have previously done on
the convict/settler stories. Highlight they are to represent this
information at the end of the week so they will need to work hard
Instruct the class to pack up their things and move to the ICT lab
which has been booked for the lesson. Before the class is allowed
into the lab, emphasis once more that students will present this at
the end of the week
Walk around the lab and answer any questions that students may
have with this assessment
