Reflection 3
In my culture that | grew up in, the values that were deemed important were respect, modesty,
as well as family relations. Most of our values surrounded respect such as treating your elders as well as
others outside of my home with high esteem. Not saying that we have to bow down, but we should not
show any hostility and impudence. In addition to that, my culture that | grew up in also pushed us to
value the environment. As for modesty, | was taught to value myself and to not be too boastful or my
achievements. | was raised in a culture that believed that no one had to really know what you did, but
only yourself. Why? Well, because the only one that is going to benefit is myself, not others. Lastly,
family relations are highly valued because my family believes that relationships are very advantageous.
| think my values are universal. Maybe not a lot of people does not practice them, but some will
probably do. | think every culture should have these values because it is very ethical. The values of mine
hhad changed before because of the modifications that my parents did to their culture. As for now, the
values have not changed over the years. | would not think to change these values because | really think
that they are essential for a child to grow up in, However, | do think that | will most likely add on to
those values.
