interrelationships between motivation, engagement, and complex problem solving in
game-based learning. Educational Technology & Society, 17(1), 42-53.
In this journal it talks about how Digital game-based learning, multiplayer online
games, has been said to promote student motivation and complex problem-solving
development. Findings of this study suggest that learners motivation determine their
engagement during game play, which then develops complex problem-solving
competencies. I like this research journal because its a new way of motivating
students. Its also not that popular so it would be good to incorporate it into my
research paper.

aspects of sustained attention. Journel of Experimental Psychology: General, 143, 22872295.
This Journal from Experimental Psychology talks about motivation and how rewards
play into that. This will help me show if attention is achieved through rewards
and punishment or if there is no difference.

role of educational expectation. The Britsish Pyschological Society, 84, 22-39.
The information from the British Psychological Society is a journal researching about
kids and how motivation determines if they will drop out in later years of schooling.
The conclusion was that it was more about the childrens confidence in certain
subjects. This journal will help me show that motivation is a key component to do well

in school. It also shows that children need to be confident in the work they do at
school.

I like this article because Hill did her research by asking graduated students what
teachers did that motivated them to learn the material. Its different then the other
journals i picked it was based on results of a test. This journal is a survey in a way
which makes it more personal and real.

This journal will help my research paper because it talks about positive strategies that
work to motivate and strategies that didn't help kids in school. Research showed kids

had positive results when strategy of reasonable decision-making and cognitive and
lifelong learning goals motivation was Incorporated into the learning. Negative results
occurred when academic achievement, strategy of reasonable decision-making, and
strategy of independent decision-making and negative factors for learning motivation
are not incorporated.

this journal is researching to find out if its beneficial for kids to engage in gym or out
door activities. They try to see if kids that go outside and are active help them keep
engaged in class. At the end of the experience they came up with the conclusion that
kids that engaged in gym where more engaged in class then the kids that didn't go to
gym. This article is going to benefit me because it discusses the topic motivation and
how certain things such as gym is a way to keep kids motivated in school.

Jeff Weisman wrote this journal to tell help teachers examine various motivational
constructs and to determine if educators are incorporating the most effective
motivational strategies. He also goes on to talk about the students motivation and
desire within themselves and if that's the only way to get kids excited about school or
is there any thing teachers can do to motivate them. This journal is beneficial to me

because it gives example of ways to get kids excited about school. it also will tell me
things that kids get excited about class.

The information from British Educational Research Journal says teachers that take
kids to a museum will enhance the chance of the children staying motivated and
staying excited about history. The researcher used five components to see if the kids
are motivated when a teacher uses a museum as a teaching technique. The
components are excitement and motivation to learn the past, active participation in
learning process, reconstruction of historical knowledge and the development of
historical thinking skills, enjoying social studies learning, and heightened interest in
social studies and seeing it as valuable school subject. In the conclusion the researcher
said that having kids go to a museum will benefit the children learning the concept.

In this journal it researches the effect on reading off a computer screen. The
experiment was done on 60 5th graders. The students that read the computer screen
material had lower motivation level then the kids that read the material from a piece of
paper. This journal will hep me because it shows a technique that will lower
motivation.
