World History Narrative and Annotation Assignment

1. Select one of the topics to complete this activity

a. WWII Soldiers
b. Interned Japanese
c. Incarcerated Jew/Camp Survivors

2. Annotation for the topic you choose complete the following (hjelmshistory.weebly.com)
a. Annotate two documents utilizing Fox it reader
i. Submit via email (jrhjelm@avhsd.org or Google share from your Google school
account.

3. Narrative writing
a. Using information gathered from your annotations, notes, and personal knowledge; write a
narrative (Story) or Diary from the perspective of someone from that group. Narrative or diary
should be at least 250-500 words (1-2 pages), 12 pt font, Times New Roman)
b. Items to include:
i. Name of your character
ii. Age?
iii. Occupation?
iv. What group do you belong to?
v. What is your relationship to World War II? (What did you do/what happened to you?)
vi. Include events from your annotations and internet research
vii. If diary, give details of what may be occurring to you or the world around you over the
course of weeks or months.

4. Extended points opportunity (GREAT FOR GRADE RECOVERY)

a. Complete all the requirements for one of the other two topics
b. Deliver in printed out form
