Math Analysis HW 2/24/15

Name: ____________________________
Birthday Polynomial! Use the numbers in your birthday as x-intercept values to create a polynomial function in
factored form.
Example: My birthday is December 4 12/04
My function will have x-intercepts at = {1,2,0,4}
(You can make any of your x-intercepts negative as well)
Write each of your x-intercepts as a factor in your function.
() = ( 1)( 2)()( 4)
Change the multiplicity of each factor to make your birthday polynomial more interesting and unique.
() = ( 1)2 ( 2)( 5 )( 4)3
Describe the graph of your birthday polynomial function.
*You do not need to graph this function or put it in standard form*
In your description, give the following details:
1) Leading term
2) Coefficient (Value and whether it is positive or negative)
3) Degree (Value and whether it is even or odd)
4) Right-Side and Left-Side End Behaviors using limit notation
5) X-intercepts, their multiplicity, and the graph behavior at the x-axis
(ie. Whether the graph is tangent to the x-axis or crosses the x-axis at that specific x-intercept)
