Chapters 1-2 In making Thinking Visible

We met with Dr. Hoagland's group as well as
Dr. Bluiett. We talked about the introduction to
the book and some various strategies that
could be used in our units. We thought about
how we think as students and teachers as
well. It is important for the teacher to know
how she thinks before she can determine how
her students think. We also talked about our
experiences at Tarrant so far.

Chapters 5-6 in Making Thinking Visible

We looked at the various strategies that were
explained to help students with their thinking.
Dr. Bluiett had us doing one strategy together.
We did the CSI activity. CSI has the students
respond to something using color, a sketch,
and then an image. She told us first to pick a
color that represents this time in our life. We
picked our color and drew it on a piece of
paper in an image that also represented the
color. After we had a moment to think and
draw a quick sketch we discussed our
thoughts together. Grace picked green
because it represented a fresh time in life.
Steffani picked blue. Chandler and Victoria
both picked orange because it is a
combination of yellow and red. Yellow
represents happiness in our lives and red
represents conflict in our life. Finally, Ellen
picked red because it reminded her of
teachers and love.

Chapters 7-8 in Making Thinking Visible.

We met with Dr. Bluiett through a Google
Hangout. The program lets you text through a
gmail account. We looked at various quotes
that were found in Making Thinking Visible.
We took turns sharing our interpretations of

what we thought each quote meant. We also

shared what we liked about the book as well
as ways we could implement these strategies
in our classroom. Finally, we talked about
ways that we could implement these
techniques into our unit.
