economically on the standard printers most people have access to. The color schemes and
backgrounds in the survivor booklet are beautiful when viewed online or when professionally
printed. However, people who wish to print this out at home on their smaller printers may have
trouble printing the color heavy pages.

layout or design. After reviewing the cunent booklet, we propose to make the following
modifications:
Simplify the text to prioritize readability
lnclude brief introductory summaries of each chapter
Simplify word choice to empower readers with limited vocabularies
lsolate the text in a non-proprietary file format (such as a text or html file) so that the
possibility exists for converting it to other formats (such as pdf, ebook, print, etc.)

All group members are currently enrolled in Writing 3015 - Professional Writing. ln addition,
some members are specifically completing degrees within the University's Writing
Department. We are all familiar with computers and document design.

Budget:
Our group is here to help revise and edit the original survivor booklet into a new more easily
readable version. We might print out a few copies to make sure that the final product will be
satisfactory, but we won't be printing any more than necessary for the editing and revision
process. lt is up to UCASA to determine the ftnal formatting of the text, if any.

Conclusion:
We are excited to begin working on this pro.iect and
are grateful for the opportunity to work
with you. After this project is done, we are sure you will

Midterm progress report

writing in regards to the Midterm progress report. As per your request, I am going to talk about the
group dynamic, our CEL work, and how I think the class is going.

The Broup dynamic so far with the NPO assignment, and various in class assignments, seem to be going
pretty well. So far the group hasn't been split up into individuals; we have all been working in a group

lt seems that Casey and Kira are very shy and don't understand how to react to our
sarcasm sometimeland have a hard time contributlng: But they are always online when we set our
allotted times. For the NPO assignment we have split it up into 5 sections, one for each of us, which we
all have allocated to ourselves to summarize and rewrite so when the time comes for everyone to show
(i.e. google docs).

their sections I think that our group will be able to get all the work done for UCASA (our NPO).
This last weekend we have split up our 36 page document into 5 sections. Through these sections we are

going

to individually

summarize the sections and then upload them

to good docs and edit them

together. Though this we hope to eliminate the sense that there was more than one person writing the
document. Our final project is going to be well over 2,00o words and I think it is going to be a very

satisfying piece of work.

Out of all of my five classes I have this semester, this is my favorite class. I feel like the small group that
we have in our class is really good. The biggest class I have in 100 people. I really like writing and I am
going into a profession that is really heavy on writing, right now I am plannlng on goinB to Law

school,

but as a fall back I am thinking that going into publishing would be a very rewarding career. Overall
this class and lthink that it will be very rewarding all throughout my future

ln conclusion, I feel like out group dynamic is pretty good, our NPO is shaping out to be good, and I really
like this class. Thank you so much for being willing to be such a great teacher and being open to treat us
a peers and less of someone who is just here to 8et our money and not care about our career (l have
had teachers like that).
