Integrated Math II

Welcome to Integrated Math II. Im looking forward to a fun year navigating
through a variety of subjects and skills in mathematics.
Supplies
It is imperative that you come to class each day prepared to learn. In order
to facilitate this, you will need, at minimum:
A pencil. (Pens are discouraged as it is more difficult to correct
mistakes)
A notebook/binder with loose-leaf paper for note taking and work.
Your textbook.
Classroom Expectations:
Be Prepared: Come to class with your materials, ready to learn and
participate.
Be Positive: You are responsible for your own education. Come to class with
an open mind, a friendly attitude, and a willingness to learn.
Be Responsible: Turn in work on time. Complete homework when it is
assigned. Be sure to complete corrections on work when it is offered as an
option. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to ask for make-up work and
complete it in a timely fashion.
Be Respectful: Your peers are here to learn. Refrain from behaviors that
disrupt their opportunity to learn. Silence your phones, refrain from talking
during instruction, and feel free to work with your peers during work time
unless otherwise stated.
Assignments:
All assignments must be completed and turned in by the due date.
Assignments will be graded on a four point scale:
4 Advanced Proficient: The student demonstrates mastery of the
associated skills and content above and beyond the expectations set
by the standards.
3 Proficient: The student demonstrates proficiency in the associated
skills and content.
2 Developing: The student demonstrates an understanding of the
associated skills and content, but misconceptions or mistakes are
present.
1 Emerging: The student demonstrates a major misunderstanding of
the associated skills and content.

Please note that this is not a direct conversion to percent grade A student
who scored straight 3s, for example, would come out of my class with a B,
as proficiency is the benchmark by which the standards system is set.
Students who score lower than a 3 on any assignment have the opportunity
to perform corrections, which will be discussed in a later section.
Assessments: There will be both tests and project-based assessments in
this class. Both are to be treated as exams Students must work from their
own knowledge and are not allowed to collaborate unless otherwise stated.
Assessments are the means by which I can measure a students progress;
students need to take them seriously.
Corrections: If a student is eligible to perform corrections on an assignment
or assessments, the procedure will be as follows:
1. Identify any problems where you scored less than a 3.
2. On a clean sheet of paper, rework each of these problems correctly.
3. For each problem you reworked, write a brief explanation addressing
these questions: Why did I work the problem incorrectly? How do I
know that I am correct now?
4. Turn the corrected homework in.
If a student completes corrections to these standards, their grade on each
corrected problem will be adjusted to a 3.
Grading: A students grade will be broken down as follows:
30% Assignments
70% Assessments
Letter grades will be assigned as per the school standard.
Cheating/Plagiarism: These issues will be addressed in accordance with
the school handbook. There is a strict zero-tolerance policy for these
behaviors.
Classroom Rules: In addition to being held to the school handbook, I expect
my students to:
Be respectful to their peers and myself. Honor the fact that we are
all here to learn.
Use technology responsibly. I do not mind the use of cell phones so
long as it is not during instruction and supports a students learning.
Calculator apps and math references online are welcome to be
used. When we use computers or tablets for an assignment,
students are expected to be on task and making the best use of our
time with this technology.

Criticize constructively. When students are working together, they


are expected to provide feedback in a way that helps the other
students to learn.

Make-up Work: Students with an excused absence will be granted an


extension of due dates in accordance with the school handbook. Work turned
in past this modified date will be considered to be late.
Students are expected to advocate for themselves. It is their
responsibility to ask for make-up work.
If an absence is unexcused, any missing work is considered late.
Late Work: If a student has missed the deadline, 10% of the possible score
will be deducted. All late work must be turned in by the end of each grading
period. Exceptions to this policy will be made only in extreme cases.
