Is Homework Beneficial For Students Education?
Does having homework really benefit students education? There is a possibility that
homework is worsening students learning ! Homework is negatively affecting students
schooling, because of the fact that it offers little educational value and leads to no higher grades,
it can keep students from a balanced life with family and friends, and it causes a stressful life due
to the long hours of work and pressure.
To begin with, homework offers little academic value, and leads to no higher grades. For
instance, homework is like an additional unit that students did not get to during the day,and there
is really no need for this (Healy).Another key point is that teachers often make intentionally long
sheets of homework based on work that students had already previously learned during the
day,but that's just more work for students to deal with (Healy). Finally, another piece of evidence
is that students in Finland have little to no homework, and still top the charts in good grades
(Lepi). Therefore, homework offers little learning value and no higher grades.
Additionally, homework can keep students from a balanced life with family and friends.
Homework causes things at home and after school activities to become very busy and students
don't like missing out on activities planned after school (Healy). Another example is that young
kids in elementary school are getting five to six pages of homework a day (Less
Homework,More Trouble), and that can lead to a lot of stressful issues for students. Another
very important piece of evidence is that having excess homework can keep students from being
regular kids who can spend time with family and friends (Healy),and that is not good for a
students social life. These examples have proven that homework can keep students from a
balanced life with family and friends.
An equally important reason is that homework causes a stressful life. For instance, homework
often puts intense pressure on kids to finish their homework, and teachers assign students
consequences if they dont finish the homework, and that is not helpful for a students education
(Healy).Another key point is that too much work at one time usually leads to a lot of stress, and
eventually student burnout, which eliminates the students will and ability to learn (Lepi). Finally,
too much homework can bring stress, long hours of work, uncertainty, and no higher grades
(Healy). Consequently, too much homework causes a stressful life.
Some believe that there are some benefits of homework for a students education. For instance,
critics argue that giving students homework can help teach them to work more independently,
and allow students to set higher standards (Less Homework,More Trouble). While some
people say that homework is beneficial to students learning, the stressful problems that
homework brings to students outway the positive effects.
In conclusion, the stressful problems that homework brings to students negatively affect
students education. Homework negatively affects students education, because it offers little
educational value and promises no higher grades, it can keep students from a balanced life with
family and friends, and giving homework to students causes a stressful life. To wrap it all up,
giving homework to students negatively affects their education.
