Annotated Bibliography:

1.Daybook/Journal
I found that looking at my journal could be of use because actual personal experience on the
topic was very helpful. I found that it gave me a good foundation on understanding the topic of
conservation and all of the different aspects of it. With my journal, I learned a lot of what goes
into small businesses trying to raise awareness for the conservation and preservation of
endangered species.
2. Interview- Youtube
I found that this source really helped me because it focused on Kevin Richardson and the work
that he does to educate many on the importance of wildlife conservation. Kevin is able to closely
work with these animals and use his popularity among the internet to gain access to viewers
wanting to learn more about it endangered species and why we need to work towards protecting
them. This video was very interesting to watch, but also informative.

3. This I Believe
I really enjoyed reading this girls essay because she really knew how to speak to someones
emotions. She asked you to focus on what the world would be like without wildlife and I thought
that it was quite powerful. This essay did contain some facts, but I mainly enjoyed it because you
could tell how much she cared about the subject and its good to see that when researching a
topic.

4. Database (Jstor.org)
This database article was very informative. It included factual information from a school
textbook that could be used when you need to add some statistics into a paper. There was so
much information and while the article is pretty old, I thought it would be good to be able to use
if I wanted to compare how the numbers of different species have decreased in population over
time. As well as discuss how methods of educating people on the topic has either changed or
stayed the same over the last few years.

5. Google Scholar
This article was very informative with relatively new factual information. It included different
facts contributed to the publication of the book from many different people who have dedicated
their lives to researching wildlife conservation. This would really be helpful if I needed statistics

to use in a paper, as well as gaining information on different ways to educate people on

6. Website
This website is awesome and packed with so many different sources so use. It includes lots of
videos, articles, and different ways you can help out to contribute to the conservation of
endangered wildlife species. I could look through this website all day. They upload new
information with different events and things happening that have to do with conservation each
day. This is a great source to look at when wanting to find current things happening.

7. Website-Volunteering option
For this source, it focuses on a volunteering program that is hosted by Kevin Richardson, who I
had previously found a source on. I thought it would be interesting to find something that I could
include that could show just one of the ways someone could get involved to help contribute to
conservation. Kevin Richardson has a wildlife reserve and this website shows how you can help
out and get involved there.

8. Film- Documentary
I love watching documentaries, especially on topics that I am interested in. I think that
documentaries can be great sources for a paper because they usually include some great
information, and you can retain it just by watching an interesting video. I really liked this one
because it include some great visuals and was very easy to follow along with.

9. Article (Timeline) *PRO

This article was one that I chose that focuses on the pros of wildlife conservation. I found it
unique because it was set up in a timeline style that shows you the different things that have been
done to contribute to conservation since last year. I like how it focused on big and important
events in history. The way it is set up makes it easy to find information you may be looking for.

10. Article *CON

This article focused on the cons of conservation in regards to zoos. I thought it was interesting to
see a different viewpoint after researching so many that encouraged places like zoos and
reserves. I can certainly understand why the author of the article felt that zoos did not mean that
these animals were being preserved. I think it is important to understand why someone might be
against something and see different viewpoints because it helps when writing a paper by
knowing how many different people feel about the topic you are writing about.

Reflection:

With our task that revolved around finding different types of sources that could be used to
research a topic of our choosing, I found that I was really educated on all of the different types of
sources that are available to anyone wanting to gain more information on a subject to be used in
writing a paper. We were required to find around ten sources, including those from a critical
essay, different articles, personal or fan websites, an article including pros and cons, as well as
information that we ourselves have studied and found. I think that it is so important for students
to be properly educated on finding sources of different types to be used for papers. Throughout a
students whole educational career, it is vital that they know how to collect the best sources to be
used to help them when researching and writing a paper. This project definitely helped me in

learning how to locate the best types of sources to be used and how to determine if they were of
quality or not. I chose to focus on the topic of conservation in regards to wildlife. This topic is
something of great importance to me and is something that I really enjoyed gaining more
information on while researching. I learned a lot and it was nice to learn about the topic using
many different types of sources, which allowed for me to gain different viewpoints on the
subject. In order to find the most viable sources I knew that I wanted to find resources that many
look to when researching this topic. I looked to find websites that included many different types
of articles, videos and interviews that were created by people who are very passionate about
conservation and educating others on the topic. While doing my research, I found one individual
in particular that dedicates his whole life to focusing on the conservation of wild animals
throughout the world, but mostly focusing on his efforts in South Africa. I chose to focus a lot on
this individual because he has studied it and produced his information on many different helpful
platforms, including documentaries, a novel, articles, and interviews and even has his own
reserve with volunteering options. I found that focusing on someone who is so passionate about
the cause really helped me want to learn more about it myself. I didnt find myself running into
many problems when trying to find different sources. I was a bit overwhelmed though because I
ended up finding so many good ones. It was refreshing to see that when you really look in many
places to find different types of sources, you can acquire so many usable sources. When
researching on conservation of wildlife, I definitely learned a lot that I had not already known. I
think the most shocking pieces of information I looked at were ones that included numbers of

species alive in the wild. It is crazy to see how the numbers of these different types of
endangered species has dwindled over the years. It was also quite frustrating to see just how a
prominent thing such as poaching, which is the illegal hunting of wild animals, still is. There was
so many statistics that I saw that showed how many animals are killed on public and private
lands each year. I can see why so many are trying to get involved to protect different types of
endangered species before they are gone forever. With my studies, I also wanted to focus on zoos
considering many people have mixed feelings about them. Some feel that under no circumstance
should any wild animal be in captivity, while others believe that it is simply necessary to help
protect and conserve different species. Its always interesting to research a topic that many
people have a wide range of opinions on. I enjoy getting different perspectives on things to help
me feel like I am well educated on the topic from knowing all the different viewpoints. With that
being said, I definitely found that my perspective on the topic of conservation has not exactly
changed but instead, I have just gained more opinions on different aspects on it. I am able to
understand why different believe have different believes on the topic now. I think that this project
was certainly helpful and not only helped me learn so much about what I was researching that I
might not have ever learned, but it also helped me really be able to pick out the best sources that
I could use if I were to ever right a paper on it. In my opinion, finding solid sources is the most
important part of writing any paper and it is absolutely necessary to be able to do so.
