My Ideal Organization:
Products and Services:

What industry or sector is the enterprise involved in?


o Would be in the healthcare/technology industry.
What markets does it serve?
o Would serve lower income patients worldwide with the latest medical
advancements.
Who are its customers?
o Poorer Type 1 Diabetics around the world are the customers.
Does it provide products or services?
o The products would be used for diagnosis and treatment of Type 1 Diabetes.

Are you working in an organization or are you self-employed?


o I would be working within an organization.
What size is the organization?
o The organization would be a smaller division of a much larger organization like a
hospital or the not-for-profit, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Does it have a single organization or is it made up of multiple sub-organizations?
o It would be the sub-organization of a larger organization. There would be no suborganizations stemming from this one.
Does the organization operate in a local, national, or global market?
o Global market
Is the organization for-profit, not-for-profit, or government?
o Ideally, not-for-profit.
If for profit, is it publicly traded or privately held?
o N/A

Culture:

What is the organizations vision and mission?


o The vision and mission of the organization is to provide treatment,
service, and education about Type 1 Diabetes to individuals and families
in poorer areas around the world.
How do they communicate these to employees?
o Employees are given abundant and endless resources to enhance their
knowledge and understanding of diabetes and the treatment for the disease.
Employees are also encouraged to suggest ideas to help accomplish the
organization's vision and mission.
What is the working atmosphere like?

Most Employees work out in the field with patients providing care,
treatment, and education on type 1 diabetes. Some employees work on
organizing/coordinating volunteer opportunities and events.

Management Style:

How do you prefer to be supervised?


o I prefer to not be micro managed. I want to be empowered to make
decisions on my own within range and provide input.

How should management ensure accountability and quality of work?


o Management should have specific hiring criteria to hire the most
knowledgeable, skilled medical employees with a passion and commitment
to the organization's mission and vision. Employees will be responsible for
adhering to health and wellness standards by law.
Is the organization more formal or informal in terms of its operating?
o The organization will be characterized by both formal and informal
operation standards. Patient care may sometimes be administered in
informal settings, but employees will still abide by formal safety

What do you see yourself doing in the organization?


o I see myself either as a nurse administering care to people or as a leader
within the company organizing/maintaining operations within the
company and the relationship with the parent company.
What level of responsibility do you have?
o As a nurse, I have the responsibility of administering care to patients and
representing the organization on a daily basis in the world. If I were a
leader managing operations, I would have much more responsibility.
Will you be supervising the work of others?
o If in the field, I would like to be a charge nurse, so a leadership position
within the nursing community of the organization. As an operations
manager/leader, I would be supervising the work of many.

Values:

How does the organization interact with its employees?


o The organization takes care of its employees and makes them feel valued
and empowers its employees. Communication between management and
employees is more informal and relaxed. Ideas are exchanged freely.
What does the organization do to interact with the community and the
environment?
o The organization serves the community, specifically the poorer/lower
income communities around the world. The organization also has deep
concern for the environment and decisions the organization makes will
always take into consideration effects on the environment.
What values are important to the organization?

Serving the community and helping others is a value of high priority. The
organization values kindness, empathy, and compassion.
How would it embody those values?
o The daily operations of the organization include providing treatment and care to
those who need it, but dont have access to it. Each employee will demonstrate
these values through their work.

Evaluation Methods:

How frequently will I be evaluated?


o As an operations manager, my work will be evaluated daily.
What methodology will be used?
o I will report to the larger organizations director. The success of treatment and
care will be measured in numbers and demonstrated in reports.
Are evaluations by supervisors, peers, both?
o Evaluations would be conducted by the director of the hospital if I am in an
operations management position of the small organization.

Reward Systems:

How does the organization reward its members?


o Employees of the organization will essentially be employees of the hospital.
These employees will be formally recognized by the hospital for their dedication
and work at hospital functions like galas, etc. These employees also are given the
opportunity to travel and live in many areas around the world. They are
compensated very well and are given the time and work life balance to
experience the area they are living in.
What are its policies for compensation, promotions, and benefits?
o Employees receive free healthcare and are healthily compensated.
Will it provide performance-related incentives in the form of raises, bonuses, stock
options, etc?
o The longer an employee works for the organization and continues to travel, the
amount that the hospital contributes to the employees 401K increases over time.
Employees are also given a review annually for a merit raise.
