- Employment may be found on or off campus with employers
that have arranged in
advance to offer FWS positions to CSUEB students

employers may not be as understanding as school employer

Question: How do you manage class and work?
Since my job is on campus they work around my class schedule
so it doesnt interfere with class, but that also means that I have to
manage my time wisely and study and do homework before I start
my shift
Question2: Does having a job interfere to be involved for example
clubs, sports, greek life?
Yes, I still have time to go out at night and participate in greek
events, but it definitely restricts the amount of events i can attend,
because of my busy schedule

Question: Why did you decide to work outside of school instead
of work study?
- I didnt like the idea of losing my job after a certain amount of
time, I wanted a steady job and off campus jobs were the only
ones that offered me the stability.
Question: Was it difficult to juggle off campus and school?
- Yes it was, at the beginning but honestly its about managing
your time. As long as you can manage your time you can handle

question: Whats one piece of advice you would give to incoming
students?
- I would say that every situation is unique some can handle off
campus jobs and some cant know yourself.
question: Do you think you made the right choosing off campus?
- I know I did, Ive had so many opportunities since I decided to
work off campus. I now have a district job as a teachers aid and
sports coordinator.
question: Has working off campus made it difficult to socialize?
- Yes, because I rarely spend time on campus so most of my
friends arent from school but rather from work.

Top 10 Tips:
Getting a job is good it will help to get an actual job when looking
for one because of the experience
Dont let the job get in between school work
Better to get an on-campus job to be flexible with schedule
Try staying involved with school activities/ events
Dont slack off with school
if you want off campus weigh your pros and cons
dont take on what you cant handle
learn to balance and time management
Try to pick a job that can help you or benefit from
