INTERNS FINAL REPORT

This final report on your internship experience should be typed. It should include your observations about
the value of your internship and your suggestions for improving the course. This report must be submitted to
the faculty intern coordinator before a grade for the course can be submitted.

1. Did your supervisor provide you with learning opportunities or make an effort
to train you? Explain.
I had many opportunities for learning new skills. The department I worked with
covers a wide variety of responsibilities and, while I usually was trusted to do work
on my own, I also received training and feedback from the other members of the
marketing department. Often this was informal and sometimes closer to friendly
advice, but still very helpful.
2. Do you feel satisfied with the variety and nature of experiences of your
internship? Explain.
I do. When I began this internship I was excited to see what it would be like to work
in a hospital environment and I feel that over the few months of my internship, I
had an experience that was different from what I am accustomed to and an
experience that was educational. Not only did I have the opportunity to write in a
new environment, but I also saw a new side to marketing in a healthcare context.
3. Would you recommend that this organization be retained as a participant in
the internship program? Explain.
I would. During my internship there was a lot of turn over with staff in the
marketing department, but I think that after this semester there will be more
stability and it would be an even better environment for an intern.
4. What advice would give future interns not necessarily about the place you
are working but about the internship experience itself?
If there is a particular experience you want, but are not necessarily getting, ask your
supervisor about what you can do to change that. Mostly, take initiative and dont

be afraid to do projects independently. Supervisors are important, but it is also

important to learn how to function on your own.
5. Summarize your thoughts and observations regarding your internship. How
do you feel about the experience? Do you believe you are prepared to enter the
professional world? Why or why not?
I think it was an overall good experience. I already felt fairly prepared to enter the
professional work, but my time at Parkridge has given me new possibilities. In the
beginning, I thought that it might convince me to start my career in healthcare
(specifically in marketing and communications), but, while that is still an option, I
believe that I want to keep exploring other potential career paths. The internship did
give me a different perspective than any other experience Ive had which not only is
something useful to put on my resume, but has helped me grow as a professional.
