Illustrating Inner Thoughts vs.

Outer Thoughts
In Act 1 scene 4 of Macbeth, Duncan expresses his deep gratitude for Macbeths
military service and Macbeth responds kindly and graciously.
In the following boxes, draw pictures of Macbeth talking to Duncan in this scene. Each
of your drawings should depict Macbeth both speaking and thinking by using a talk
bubble to depict what he actually said to Duncan, and a thought bubble to depict
what he was (or might have been) thinking. See my example.
You must illustrate 2 different Macbeth quotes. You can choose a quote and put it in
your own words if you choose. However, all quotes must be cited.
In scenes 5 and 6, we are introduced to Lady Macbeth for the first time. Pick one Lady
Macbeth quote from either scene (where she is talking to either Duncan or Macbeth)
and illustrate both what she said and what she might have been thinking. As above,
please cite which quote you choose. Your drawing should make obvious who she is
speaking to and what she is thinking about.
