REBECCA NATHAN: EVERYTHING

This introverted series has a highly develop

concept that juxtaposes essences of
darkness as well as beauty. Through her
subject, technique and costume she
creates a beauty within her images and
then through her setting in conjunction with
her lighting she can resemble that darkness
within them as well.
She also uses colour in her concept to
create a surreal effect to the style of these
photo in which are used with some highly
creative techniques of slow-shutter speeds
that capture motion and movement to
authenticate essences of playfulness,
dance, expressionism, story telling and
body movement.

The symbols I can

identify are the dress,
the colour of the
dress and the subject
of course.

The dress symbolises the time period of which
she has captured the images and in this case she
seems to have captured a modern-day image of
a woman. The symbolicalness of the woman
might suggest an idea to do with feminism or
contribute to the themes of dance. Pink in the
previous images contributed to that essence of
playfulness or feminism and dance where these
images in the white suggest more about
spirituality or light, and new life. All in all, almost
everything about these images have been highly
inspirational to everything from subject, to
lighting, to technique to setting and costume.

The subject here can be

referred to as a character
because she is reoccurring in
these images, however there
is no evident face that we can
later relate to the character.
This is a technique Rebecca
has used quite subjective to
suggest as overall character
issue rather than an individual
or independent character
issue.

INGRID ENDEL: THEME

Ingrid used o be a dancer who later suffered from injuries and
endured a passion in photography where she could combine her
passion for photography and dance to compose beautiful, unique
composites of single narrative images that imposed themes of
dance, beauty and story-telling. He use of setting really combines
subtly with her use of lighting that naturally imposes some create
concepts and meanings that I wish to use as inspiration in my
product. Her symbolism in her images are probably the most
dominate aspects of her work, however theyre added aspects
that are necessary to her theme just to the ideas and meanings in
each individual image, this something I did not want to take on
because of the artificialness of the image.

KYLI SPARRE: THEMES/CONCEPT, STYLE, CHARACTER

Kyli Sparee uses high developed

conceptual styles to impose a
surrealism within her image. Her
themes all explore women and make
great use of costume to propose
ideas about character and concept.

She uses her setting to balance with

her character, colours and costumes
in which all value one or many
climatic meanings. They all have a
dramatic scene about them in which
has been developed to suggest ideas
about the character and the meaning
and ideas within the image

Her costumes are all exquisite, and

imply some importance to her
subjects that all seem to involve
movement. Movement is a massive
theme within all of her images,
particularly in the ones I have
selected here. They all has an
essence of movement just like the
character within the images, in which
parallel to some relation to
movement, however the concept
remains mysterious to us. I like this
about Sparres style of work.

DENNIS CACHO: STYLE/TECHNIQUE CINEMATIC ASPECT RATIOS

Dennis Cacho creates
awesome scenic images
using cinematic aspects.
Most of his work is crafted
around street style, and cityscape images, however he
engages in dramatic film like
styles using his light,
composition and framing
quite precisely then later
applies certain techniques
that cinematograph his work,
meaning that he creates a
cinematic aspect ratio that
for some reason impacts on
the overall image with
unbelievable power when
used right. Maybe, its the
fact that its so relatable to a
film and we associate most
film with reality.. or at the
least real. I am quite
interested in the effect and
want to explore it.

BROOKE SHADEN: STYLE

Brooke Shaden engages in selfportraits and creates a distinct
style within her work where
initiates conceptual art works
using her photographic style.
Her concepts are based on
stories she tries to tell through
individual images. Usually she
explores certain themes through
a series of images in which are
all formatted to a 1x1 ratio. I
could not find out why however,
her work of images involve
distinct techniques in photoshop
and very heavily creative
processes of thinking. She
usually bases her images off very
simple sketches that are not
identifiable by anyone us but
herself however she has
visualised her final piece of work
and develops it until she is ready
to shoot - she will stick to this
visualisation as much as
possible. She employs a lot of
photoshop work to craft that
distinctive style within her work,
in which is renown as a very
creative style of conceptual
photography. Sometimes her
works are unbelievable to look at
they all establish a connection
with the subject and involve one
individual (majority of the time
herself) and so magically blend in
which her settings, colours and
symbols. Her style is of such high
regard - the surrealism, artistic,
and conceptual developments
are of great inspiration to my
product.

PS TUTORIAL: RAY OF LIGHTING EFFECT

tutorials/create-rays-of-light-inphotoshop.aspx
This technique could help
develop some added surrealistic
elements to some of the shots.
The effect is quite straight
forward and very simple,
Hopefully it will not be breaching
any natural feel to the image.
