To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing on behalf of Jennifer Stone who is seeking employment at your school. I am currently one of her
colleagues at Thomas Worthington High School and I served as her department head from 2008-2013.
During her time at TWHS Jennifer has taught Spanish 1B, Spanish 1AB, Spanish 2, Spanish 3, Honors Spanish 3,
Spanish 4 and Honors Spanish 4. In the classroom, Jennifer has proven herself to be very motivated, responsible and
hard-working. She stimulates interest in Spanish amongst her students by not only teaching vocabulary and grammar
from the curriculum, but also by working hard to incorporate culture into her lessons. Jennifer is extremely welltraveled and shares her knowledge of various countries and regions with her students on a daily basis. She dedicates a
tremendous amount of time and effort into creating authentic and meaningful lessons for her students. Jennifer is always
available when her students need her and is extremely accessible.
As a respected member of the World Languages Department at TWHS, she has an excellent understanding of the
vocabulary, grammar, and curriculum that is to be taught at each level. In fact, Jennifer's colleagues in her department
regularly go to her when they have their own questions about difficult grammatical concepts in Spanish. Her knowledge
base of the Spanish language is tremendous, and therefore, she also serves as our departmental representative for our
counseling department when a native speaker enrolls at TWHS. The counselors have the new students meet with
Jennifer, she assesses their skills in reading and writing Spanish, and makes recommendations to the counselors about
which classes the student should take in our World Language program. Jennifer also organizes and awards the Sarah
Forester Scholarship for our department.
Jennifer is also a valued contributor in all of our department meetings. She spends hours meeting with members of the
World Languages Department, to work on developing lesson plans and assessments to coincide with our curriculum
maps. Jennifer has participated on numerous graded course of study collaborative groups and her expertise in grammar
and cultural knowledge has proved invaluable to these groups.
In addition, Jennifer has become a well-liked and well-respected addition to our staff as a whole. She is the coordinator
of the Diploma of Distinction Program at TWHS and works to evaluate applications from various disciplines, verify
that requirements are met, and ultimately award the diplomas of distinction to each eligible student. This level of
involvement and commitment speaks to Jennifer's dedication not only to the students, but to the TWHS community as a
whole.
In conclusion, I heartily recommend Jennifer Stone for employment at your school. Although it will be a great loss to
TWHS, she will be a wonderful asset to your staff and student body.
Sincerely,

Melanie A. Wilson
