Russian burned villages/farms so the Nazis wouldnt have any

resources Russians lost alot

Soviet Union was based on communism Gorbachev made new policies

that allowed for more freedom AND all the money was going to the
military AND people started seeing capitalism as more efective (less
support for communism) Soviet Union collapsed

Ended the cold war (continuing state of conflict/tension mainly

between the Soviet Union and the US)

Russia now has a federal (national gov that separates powers) semipresidential government (president is the leader of the country
prime minister is head of government)
