Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth):

Jennifer used a good hook for her persuasive writing lesson as she motivated her Gr. 3's with a video
using a commercial from Chuckie Cheese. She used problem solving and critical thinking in her
questioning from the video. She had an excellent review of previous knowledge using the OREO
model. She referred back to previously made charts during the discussion time. She had a prepared
work sheet for all students. Her resources were prepared ahead of time, and made for easy transition
of students. She role modelled how to think of a topic and gave a few suggestions. She is encouraged
to plan activities for students as they finish their work in order to avoid long line ups of students waiting
for her approval. She is encouraged to time the sections of the activity in order to keep the children
focused and ensure the completion of the task in a timely manner. She is also encouraged to use a
clipboard of anecdotals during the lesson.

N/A

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth):

The initial activity motivated all of the students and engaged them immediately. She was competent in
her use of the SMART board and computer. She demonstrated evidence of assessment in her
planning binder, however, she is encouraged to use a clipboard for anecdotal notes as she circulates
amongst the students. She indicated timed sections in the lesson plan, but is encouraged to break
these down even more so they are shorter time frames to keep students motivated and engaged. She
is also encouraged to make sure she has collected all material and dismissed the students in a calm,
professional manner prior to the end of class rather than through recess.

N/A

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth):

Jennifer has a clear voice with good projection however she is encouraged to slow down and wait for
quiet rather than speaking over the students. Jennifer used many behaviour management strategies
and is encouraged to continue to collect and try more strategies. A behaviour management workshop
would also be beneficial. She is encouraged to continue practicing correct formation of primary letters
when printing. She employed the following behaviour management techniques - shhh, reminding
students of expected behaviour, thumbs up or down, waterfall, hands on top of head, and circulated
amongst students).
