Michaela Barry mbarry@umich.edu March 24, 2015 ‘To Whom it May Concern, My name is Michaela Barry and | am a freshman at Grand Blanc High School. Mr. Taylor Sergent has been my student teacher for the past five months. He has been teaching me, as well as other freshmen and sophomore students World and U.S. History this year. Throughout these past five months, we students have really gotten to know him and he is a teacher I have come to admire. "Mr. Sergent has been teaching my class World History and I can honestly say it's one of the most boring subjects | have ever had to learn. Even though the curriculum isnot all that interesting, he has done a great job teaching it. He makes sure he alternates different learning methods for each lesson. They include watching Power Points and taking notes, doing hands-on activities involving the material we're learning, and sometimes even doing ‘something creative like drawing or writing comics which is great for the more artistic students. Yes, there are some lessons that aren't as engaging or interesting as others, but Mr. Sergent i eager to learn from his mistakes and improve for the next class. He tries really hard to connect with all of his students and makes us fee! lke we're a family in his classroom, ‘There are many reasons that stand out to me as to why Mr. Sergent is qualified to teach middle school or high school students. First, he is hardworking and organized so he is very prompt at correcting papers and tests and putting them in the grade book. He gives many opportunities to students whose grades are not where they could be, and gives constant reminders of missing papers and other missing work. He is @ very patient teacher which really helps when you're dealing with as many disrespectful teenagers as he does. Mr. Sergent has a very positive attitude, and is always there to greet us at the door as we walk into his classroom. That demonstrates that he enjoys his job and is happy to be there. tn conclusion, ! believe Mr. Sergent is someone you should hire. He would be a really great addition to your school He is someone you can trust to make good decisions that are in favor of his students.
