Dear Brothers,

My Brothers,

First, thank you to everyone who came out to our DDGM

visit on February 10th. It was an impressive sight to see so
many Winter Park brethren sitting on the sidelines and
showing their love and support for not only our Lodge, but
our DDGM and our Fraternity as a whole. While I understand that we all have busy schedules, it sure would be
nice to have the Lodge that full (and then some) for regular
meetings as well. In my travels since that meeting, I have
heard nothing but compliments from the visiting brethren
who were in attendance that night. I was glad that others
are seeing the fun we have, and the special bond that we all
have at our Lodge.

I would like to take this opportunity to pass along the

news of some exciting upcoming opportunities for Masonic travel!

On a separate note, when talking to non-Masons, I find

that one of the hardest questions to answer is what do you
do? Its hard to answer because of how open-ended it is.
We do what we as a Lodge want to do. Not what the Worshipful Master and/or Officers want to do, but rather what
we as members want to do. That being said, if theres anything that any one you would like to see the Lodge do, or
get involved with, please send me an email or give me a
call with your suggestion(s) and we can see how to make it
happen.
Lastly, I want to continue encouraging everyone to come
to our ritual practices on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Tuesdays this
month. We have been having a lot of fun at the past several
practices while also learning a tremendous amount. I
would also like to recommend taking the Master Mason
Exams which can be found on the Grand Lodge website,
and are easily completed on your own. You might be surprised by what you learn. If you complete any (or all) exams, please turn them into myself or the Senior Warden so
I can forward them to the Masonic Education Committeeman for grading.
Fraternally,

The South

Brothers,
First I would like to thank all of the Brothers that
came for R:.W:. Johnny Big Smooth Brocks second official visit. You can tell he was appreciative of
the numbers that came out. R:.W:. Brock had a lot of
positive feedback for our lodge, which is always a
great thing to hear.

More Words From...

(cont. next page)

(cont.) Ok lets talk about the food. As of this writing 5

meals cooked and no one has been treated for food poisoning, (insert rim shot here). In the past I underestimated
the pressure that the Junior Warden must feel in wanting
to make sure that everyone is happy with the food. I
would like to thank everyone for the positive feedback,
and if you have any recommendations or suggestions
please feel free to let me know. Also if you have any
complaints please feel free to contact R:.W:. Glen Avery,
that was a joke, dont bother him, sheez.

The Secretary
Brothers,
Did you know that in ancient Rome, the phrase "Ides of
March" meant that you should have paid your dues long
before now? Fun fact.

Winter Park Masonic Lodge has six cemetery plots in the

Garden of Truth at Glen Haven Memorial Park located
at 2300 Temple Drive in Winter Park. These six remaining
plots are available for sale with all proceeds to benefit the
Lodge. For details or to make a purchase, please contact
me at 407-405-3268.

Procedural items: 1.) Petitions Committee vs. Investigation Committee--I see that sometimes these two committees get mixed up or mixed together. Every candidate for
the three symbolic degrees of Freemasonry must submit
a Petition which cannot be received by the lodge until it
has been reviewed by the Petitions Committee, consisting of at least three and no more than seven members. (In
other words, a Petition that has not been reviewed and
reported on by the Petitions Committee isn't a part of
lodge records or business.) The Investigation Committee
is comprised of only three members, appointed by the
Worshipful Master, to "inquire into the character and
standing of the petitioner." The committee investigates
independently and submits a report to the lodge. The Investigation Committee may make a unanimous or divided report but their support or opposition to a candidate
for Freemasonry is critical in the balloting of any candidate.
2.) For any member who wishes to have plural or dual
membership (membership in two lodges, either in Florida
or between other grand jurisdictions, respectively) should
file the paperwork as early in the year as possible, especially when the paperwork has to travel between grand
jurisdictions. This paperwork can take a few months to
work its way through the system so please let me know if
I can help you with any membership questions or intentions.
As always, Second and Fourth Tuesday, Dinner at 6:30.

Once again this month there are several opportunities to

increase our masonic knowledge, and I urge you to take
advantage of them. First of all we are going to be practicing the Master Mason degree on our Tuesday nonmeeting nights. This is a great chance to become comfortable and participate in upcoming degrees. Also come
out for Open Book on 3.28.2015 and support R:.H:. Don
Slim Goolsby, and as S:.W:. Mike Rhino Griffin so
eloquently says, get some fine book lernin.
In closing I would like to thank you all for everything that
you have done and continue to do for our fraternity.
