I chose this source to show that it is not a credible source. The author
is listed but very hard to find and there is no way to contact the
person. There are no qualifications listed for the author and the
website itself is very hard to navigate, about half of the links are dead
links, and nothing really makes sense on this website. It seems like a
place for advertising because all the information you would want or
need has to be bought and takes you to a third party site. It was
produced in 2007 and doesnt seem like it has been updated since
then. Everything seems to be a bit outdated and does not seem to be a
trustworthy source at all.
Title of the Resource: Square Dance
Audience: Educators/PE teachers Topic: Timing, movement, and
patterns of square dance
Author: Doug Gates

APA Citation: Gates, D. (2015, February 22). Mr. Gym. (D. Gates,
Producer) Retrieved February 22, 2015, from Mr. Gym:

The author of the page is Doug Gates and there is not any contact
information listed but in the bio page it gives literally everything about
his background and even where he works now so that could be a way
to contact him. The purpose of the document is to give educators all
the basics of square dancing in a lesson plan format to teach students.
The person is qualified to write this document because he is a PE
teacher and has a Bachelors and Masers degree in Education with
certifications in Science, Health, and Physical Education. The page
does offer a section for advertising but it is strictly for Physical
Educators to advertise lesson plans and websites related to them. You
can tell this was written for PE teachers because it appears to be kid
friendly and simple. There aren't any dead links that I could find on the
website and they all seem to be current and updated. The information
on the page cant really be outdated because it is just about certain
games and dances that you can use for kids. Everything on the page is
free and you can print the lesson plan ideas out.
Title of the Resource: Swing Your Partner: The Basics of Square
Dancing
Audience: Teachers/Educators Topic: Basic movements of square dance
Author: Lillian Hasko, Phyllis Gron, Daniella Garran
URL: http://artsedge.kennedy-center.org/educators/lessons/grade-34/Swing_Your_Partner
APA citation: Hasko, L., Gron, P., & Garran, D. (2014, February 22). The

Center for the Performing Arts) Retrieved February 22, 2014, from The

There are three authors of the page listed above but there is no
contact information for those specific people, however you can contact
the website through email, Facebook, or mail. This document was
produced to give educators a lesson plan for teaching students how to
perform the basic movements of square dance. The publisher of the
document is the The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, which is
an incredibly credible source because it is an actual institution. The
page is in no way a resource for advertising, but instead is just a
source for educators to use in teaching about certain areas of art. The
information is extremely detailed and is in no way an opinion piece just
an informative piece to help the reader. It lists the learning objectives,
the teaching approach of the lesson, the teaching methods, and the
assessment type. The website was first produced in 1996 but has been
updated all the way up to 2014 which was only 2 months ago. All of the
links work and are current. The information on the page is in now way

outdated, because you can tell it is keeping up with the times and
looks like a newly produced website. All the information is free and
even in the publishers comments it says that all information on the
website is free to be copied and used for educators.
Title of Resource: "How to Square Dance for Kids"
Audience: Teachers/educators Topic: Square Dance basics for kids
Author: Sarah Lipoff
URL: http://www.ehow.com/how_6356669_square-dance-kids.html
APA citation: Lipoff, S. (2013, June 12). eHow. Retrieved February 22,
2015, from eHow: www.ehow.com/how_6356669_square-dancekids.html
There is no contact information available but there is an area to
communicate with the author through Facebook. There are no
credentials listed for the author but she does cite her sources and
eHow is generally a good source when looking for directions to
complete a task. The author published it recently so it is up to date and
all the information is current even though square dancing itself is a
very old activity so the information can't really be outdated. You can
tell this was written to help people who want to teach kids how to
square dance, which is primarily for teachers or educators. There aren't
any dead links that I could find, but there are some advertisements not
listed by the author but by the website because it is more of a website
for advertising and distributing info but does not decrease its
credibility.
Title of Resource: "Square Dancing 101"
Audience: Teacher/educators Topic: Basics of Square Dancing
Author: Scott White
URL: http://coloradosquaredance.com/index.php/csd-links/learning-tosquare-dance
APA citation: White, S. (2012, March 15). (Colorado State Square Dance
Association) Retrieved February 22, 2015, from Colorado Square
Dance: coloradosquaredance.com/index.php/csd-links/learning-tosquare-dance
The author provides both email and contact information, and there is
also an entire list of people that you can contact all the way from the
president of the organization to the page authors. The publisher lists
his qualifications of the association and the entire website seems very
credible. The page is not a mask for advertising but more of just an
informative and helpful piece for educators and teachers. There are no
dead links and everything is current and up to date. The information

does not seem to be outdated in any way. There is no special software

required to view the information and it is all completely free. There are
print outs available for certain lessons and even some text only, and
frames for better viewing.
