Running Head: LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PLAN

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Touro University NevadaPersonal Statement

Maintaining health, well-being, and happiness in my life has been my focus since a
young age when I realized I could have control over these aspects of my life. Since obtaining the
benefits of these qualities in my life, I shifted my focus towards helping others achieve qualities
that give them happiness in life.
Mission Statement
My life's journey started from humble and unhappy beginnings, and through hard work
and self-reflection, I have found and will continue to work to obtain happiness and peace from
love and purpose in my life. I will seek experiences that make me feel alive by having adventures
through travel and connecting with diverse populations. I will find fulfillment by helping others
to bring them happiness and meaning in life.
I will find opportunities to use my natural talents and gifts such as design and creativity,
planning, logistics, and managing high-stress situations in the workplace. Knowing my strengths
and weaknesses, I will seek collaborative situations where I do best such as making big-picture
plans and generalized organization and setup. I know that follow-through and specific details are
an area for improvement, so I will work as a team to stay motivated and delegate responsibility.
Some leaders I respect have qualities of strength, confidence, and risk-taking, and I will
work to incorporate these qualities to reach my own leadership potential. I realize failure is a part
of life, and I can achieve more long-term if I take risks and assume some failures than if I always
make safe choices. I would like to establish a community-based non-profit in the US or the
developing world. I will continue to work on my comfort level in assuming risks so that I dont
limit my possibilities.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Strengths
Many people have told me I bring calm to stressful situations. I feel like I do my best
with pressure, when the stakes are high. My creativity, unconventional approaches, and
experiences with diverse populations bring a different perspective to any situation.
Growth Needs
I have come to learn more about my weaknesses through this class and reflecting on the
past three years. I recognize them as areas of growth, but I also better understand how to use the
strengths of others to compensate for my weaknesses as a team effort. I realize that when I dont
believe in a cause, or dont think progress is possible, I lose motivation and have poor follow
through. I have a tendency to get excited about a project initially, and take on more than I can
handle. I now realize I need to make realistic goals and work as a team for the best possible
outcomes.
Leadership Model
I chose situational leadership as the model that I best relate to and have used to guide my
future leadership goals.
