birth for the first time is just below 30.
In France who have children,
averaging about 2 children per
marriage.

Culture In Fam ilies


Frances is known for its cafe culture. Many

towns and cities have their streets lined with


cafes of all descriptions and these are
popular meeting places, who often prefer this
type of night out to a bar or nightclub. Cafes
offer drinks and snacks at a reasonable price
and often have tables on out the pavement,
so you can while away a few hours watching
the world go by and this is a major part of the
laid-back attitude of the French people.

Most French mothers work; the majority of

preschool children attend state-run day


cares known as crches.
Mothers like cooking Onion Soup made with
beef broth and topped with toast and
cheese, then broiled until the cheese is
melted and browned.
They also like cooking Clafouti, a dessert
made of fruit, such as cherries or peaches,
topped with a rich cake batter and then
baked.

A school day typically runs from 8:00

a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a two-hour


lunch break. Schools close
Wednesday and Sunday, and have a
half-day on Saturday.
When they go to school there is no
uniforms in public schools, however,
religious dress, such as headscarves
for Muslim girls or yarmulkes for
Jewish boys, is banned.

On Birthdays as a celebration of life.Whoever has the

birthday is able to choose whatever they would like to do on


that day.Most people choose to have a party, where they
receive a cake.
When its a holiday like Easter, people traditionally eat a leg
of lamb. The French hide chocolate or sugar eggs in their
gardens for the kids to find.
On Christmas the French decorate Christmas trees and on
Christmas Eve, children place shoes next to the tree.
French tradition states that Santa Claus comes Christmas
Eve night and fills the shoes of good children with presents.
The Christmas season is a time when French come together
and celebrate with their families. They have large meals
with famous French food, including ; Foie Gras,and Breast of
Duck.

Spouses of French citizens have a right to a long

stay visa and a family stay card as of right.


The parent of a French citizen may also request
a residency card if it is established that the
parent is financially supported by a French
citizen.
A foreign person may sponsor their spouse
and/or minor children to reside in France, if they
legally reside in France for at least eighteen
