The name of my radio drama is the accident

and this is the front cover of the

illustration.

The synopsis of my radio drama begins as the

two main characters are driving on a quiet
cold road whilst having an argument about
directions. This causes the driver of the
car to lose control and swerve out of
control and end up in a potentially
dangerous accident. However we can see that
the characters are unsure of the situation
and confused.
My radio drama is based on the events that
have occurred after a car crash on the quiet
road, the drama is set between two
characters who are in the aftermath of the
crash. The storyline will follow both the
characters on their journey that is sharply
ended due to an argument on the road, the
situation of the characters is unknown.
The budget of my radio drama will be around
3,000 per episode, these costs will go
towards equipment for sound and audio
editing such as microphones, and the other
main cost will be for publishing and
producing the drama. The drama will air for
around 1 hour and a half per episode, due to
this the costs of running electricity will
be high and the paying of the voice actors
will be considerably higher than a comedy
radio show. This would average at around
20,000 per series.
The drama will have a multi strand format,
because of this the story will be told from
multiple angles and points of views from the
different characters; these multiple events
will be occurring at the same time. The
drama will also have a realist format to it,
because of this the dramas events will be
practical and possible as appose to an antirealistic drama with will use fictional,
mythical and ideological concepts to portray
its story to the viewers. This takes into

account the settings, characters and events

that will take place in the drama.
The storyline will have a non-linear
narrative structure which gives it a
unpredictable pattern as is not in
chronological order, so it doesnt reveal
the storylines events from start to finish.
However the storyline will use flashbacks to
remember certain scenes witch contrasts the
conventions and order of a non-linear
structure. This is necessary for the
storyline as the characters will be
recalling memories from the events in the
storyline. The drama will air on a Thursday
at 9 oclock witch is the prime airing spot
for dramas. Is post-watershed, therefore it
makes it appropriate for the adult content.
The first character is a twenty-seven year
old male called Nick. Nick is a wealthy
middle class banker and is content with a
job and stable financial situation, he
originally came from a rich family so he has
a good background with a modern family;
because of this nick was well brought up
with a good education.
He is related to the other character
through work and they often have to travel
together with Nicks car. They have a close
relationship because they have been working
in the same office for years, because of
this they are good friends and have a strong
relationship. Nick has a content personality
and his main focus is his job as he feels he
has had a successful break in his industry
and he always works hard to maintain his
career, because of this he has a more formal
view on his current situation.

Ever since Nick was in secondary school, he

has always aspired to work in the business
and trade industry because he wanted to
impress his friends and be a successful
father type image to his children. Nick has
noticeable character traits such as his
aspirations of wanting to get promoted in
his job, this is the driving force that

keeps nick from concentrating on his main

goal in life. Nick is a stereotypical
character because he is a businessman and he
can be perceived as being a hard and
excessive worker who is a younger male
border lining his middle age and has a wife
with one child; this state of his
relationship is often how a businessman is
represented. This can also be seen in the
car he drives witch is an expensive midrange intermediate vehicle.
The second character in my drama is a 24
year old male called Paul. Paul is a young
aspirer who is attempting to gain a good job
in the industry similar to Nick, however he
is still in training and hasnt got a wide
knowledge range compared to his workmate
Nick.
Paul is newer to the industry and still is
developing his skills and learning the
skills from his workmates. Paul comes from a
working class family who do more manual jobs
therefore he doesnt have any links or
connections to anyone in the business
industry. Nevertheless Paul has had a good
education and has always wanted to become a
businessman in the city, he has followed his
main aspiration for years and it has been
moderately successful.
Paul knows Nick from the work industry as
they work together in the same office. Nick
also has stereotypical character traits such
as he has a university debt and high
aspirations in the work environment. He is
seeking a well-paying promotion in his job,
this shows that he is dedicated to ensuring
he has a god job and because of his similar
aspirations to Nick he also wants to work
hard to have a successful career.
Paul has an expressive personality and is
able to make friends very quickly, this is
how he met the other character, Nick. Paul
is presented as being an enthusiastic
learner and is keen to learn from his work
friends.

The characters will be voiced by males that

are of the similar age to them, Nick will be
voiced by me (Kaan Sengunes) and Paul will
be voiced by Harry Lowe. I have chosen males
that are a similar age to the characters to
make their voices seem more realistic. This
will ensure that the listeners are provided
will a more practical depiction of the
characters. If this is not provided, the
audience is more likely to switch off as
they would have lost interest.
The target audience is appropriate for this
age because it includes violent content and
a mildly adult situation. The social group
for the radio drama is lower middle class
and working class as they are more likely to
have jobs were they have time to listen to
radio, such as truck driver or office
workers. The audience are likely to be over
the age of eighteen, this is because the
program is post-watershed meaning there may
be some unsuitable content for younger
listeners.
The story will set off beginning with both
my main characters driving along a quiet
long stretch of road. Their argument causes
the driver to lose concentration on the road
when unexpectedly and very suddenly they
find themselves swerving out of control and
tumbling into a ditch on the side of the
road.
It is unclear if they have both survived,
until one of the characters crawls out with
minor injuries, however at this point the
situation is still unclear for the other
character. Due to the non- linear structure
of my drama, the program will then proceed
to end on a cliff-hanger and will continue
the story on the next episode.
