Script for Civilian or a soldier

Scene 1
INT. The Waterfront caf day
NARRATOR
Samantha is working her usual, boring shift at the local, rundown
cafe, the Waterfront in crummy Croydon, London. She is half way
through her shift serving a mixture of regulars and customers.
SAMANTHA
One bacon roll and black coffee, is that everything for you today?
CUSTOMER
Yes, thats fine thanks
NARRATOR
As she turns away to continue back to the counter
CUSTOMER
Excuse me, excuse me, EXCUSE ME
The voice changes
INT. Army Tent
BEN LEEWAY
Excuse me, excuse me
NARRATOR
Samantha is awoken from her dream back to the harsh reality of her
surroundings. She glances around, checking herself and her
environment. She sees familiar faces all dressed in brown, kaki
coloured clothing, the strangely normal sight of weapons and the
comfort of hearing people and activity.
BEN LEEWAY
Could I trouble you for the ball back?
NARRATOR
There is a pause as Samantha re-adjusts back to the reality of where
she is, then she throws the football back to Ben.
Sound of ball hitting the ground.
BEN LEEWAY
Thanks Sleepy head, having a quick snooze were we.
Sam laughs
SAMANTHA

Page 1
Yeah, well its the only time I can without having to listen to your
snoring.
Ben laughs, interrupted by Liam
LIAM MURRDOCK
Attention troops
NARRATOR
All is silent as Officer Liam Murrdock enters, his strong, sturdy
personality fills the room. All eyes on him as they await for his
commands.
(Small pause)
LIAM MURRDOCK
We have had a distress call from Dewana Baba, about 30 minutes from
here. We leave in 10.
ALL TOGETHER
Yes Sir
NARRATOR
After the sudden abruptness of Officer Murrdocks demand. There is a
silence as each soldier looks to one another for support as they
scramble their equipment together. They gear up and head out to the
trucks.
Scene 2
EXT. travelling in the army trucks (sound effects of rubble, tanks
and trucks)
INT. the vehicle
LIAM MURRDOCK
Whatever happens Sam Civilians have priority, we are here to help
and not get compromised. Okay?
SAMANTHA
But sir
LIAM MURRDOCK
No buts, we have a duty.
SAMANTHA
Yes sir.
Scene 3
EXT. at the village (sounds of jumping out the truck and surround
sound of the place)

Page 1
LIAM MURRDOCK
We will walk east to west through the centre of the village to
assess the area and find someone who might give us a clue to what is
going on here. Right, cover your backs, stay concentrated and keep
alert. Follow Ben and Max in two lines, backs faces, down the
centre.
NARRATOR
They assemble themselves to the commands of officer Murrdock and
begin their descent down the broken, dirty streets of Dewana Baba.
Taking caution with each step, the fear used as adrenaline to keep
going they make their way to what looks like was once the village
centre. Only now has been vandalised and torn apart, covered in a thick
layer of dirt and dust.
CIVILLIAN
HELP! HELP! MY CHILD! HELP
NARRATOR
The cry for help is heard, shocked by the words the soldiers stop in
their tracks as a civilian man comes running out of one of the rundown
buildings. Yelling his own language in hysterics and pleading the
language specialist tries to comprehend and understand his cries. The
soldiers get close to the ground and take their positions, waiting
intensely for a command or a sound.
(GUN SHOTS fired, machine gun)
NARRATOR
Sudden gun shots coming from the empty buildings, the civillan has been
seriously injured and is now lying still in the centre. What was a few
seconds ago a controlled situation was now a battlefield, filled with
fear and mayhem.
Samantha runs and takes cover behind a car to assess the situation,
before she has time to breath the shots continue. Her ears muffled and
burning from the noise she can see that officer Murrdock has been hit
and is still as well as another soldier and the man.
The other soldiers have taken positions behind piles of rubble and
other objects to fight back and attack the shooters, through the dust
Samantha makes her way, not caring for her own life, to Officer
Murrdock.
Bullets passing her at every angle she takes one look at Liam, his leg
has been shot and is losing too much blood. She quickly ties a rope
around the top part of his thigh to top blood going to his leg, before
she has a chance to bandage the wound
LIAM MURRDOCK
NO. leave me, attend to the others, start with the man.
NARRATOR

Page 1
Pushed away by Liams hand, Samantha runs over to the civilian.
The mixture of blood and dirt is horrifying; he has been shot three
times, one in his leg, side and stomach. The man is in pain and
confused but still alive
SAMANTHA
Can you tell me your name? Your childs name? wifes?
NARRATOR
She asks questions to keep him awake and thinking however he is losing
too much blood in vital areas.
SAMANTHA
Stay with me! Dont you dare leave. Keep your eyes open and looking at
me.
NARRATOR
Sam is frantically attending his wounds with dressing and bandages
however it was too late the mans struggles stopped with his
breathing. He was in no more pain.
Samantha took a last look at the first man she couldnt save.
SAMANTHA
This is what war is.
