Curriculum Review
Reading: This week in Wonders our essen/al
ques/on was, How can others inspire you?
Our comprehension skill was to reread for
be@er understanding while the
comprehension strategy that we prac/ced
was to iden/fy the theme of a poem. We
prac/ced using these strategies with poetry.
They created ac/ons and deni/ons for our
vocabulary words this week which were
extremely, weird, courageous, adventurous,
narra/ve poems, free-verse, rhyme,
repe//on. For grammar, we prac/ced
iden/fying past tense verbs.
Wri,ng: This week in wri/ng, our students
added stage notes to their published fables.
They also learned about the three elements
of pantomime. On Friday we made masks for
our fable characters. Next week the students
will pantomime their fables using their masks
for our arts integrated project.
Math: In math, we worked on dierent
strategies to es/mate subtrac/on problems
to the nearest mul/ple of 10 and 100.
Social Studies: In social studies, our class is
learning all about economics. Next week they
will have an economic market to sell their
goods to each other.
Science: We began our new unit in ma@er.
The essen/al ques/on this week was, How
can we nd the weight of objects? Students
rst created a hypothesis of which object
would be the lightest and heaviest, and then
they used a scale and weights to nd the
correct weight in grams.

economic market on Friday, and
so students need to make any
goods before Friday.
