Start the lesson with a brief introduction to ISTE NETS-S and

each of the 6 standards for students. Students can give

examples of how each of these standards apply to this
VoiceThread Project. See link to ISTE NETS-S below...
1. Creativity and Innovation- Students demonstrate creative
thinking and develop a product using technologies.
a. They apply their existing knowledge of MLTI software
(Photobooth, iPhoto, GarageBand) to generate new ideas.
b. They create an original work as a means of personal and group
expression.
2. Communication and Collaboration- Students use digital
media and environments to communicate, via VoiceThread and
work collaboratively to send the message. They contribute to
each others learning.

VoiceThread together.
b. They use a variety of media sources (PhotoBooth, Google
Images, iPhoto Lbrary,) to effectively convey the.
3. Research and Information Fluency- Students applied digital
tools to gather and use information.
b. Students learn how to ethically use information from a variety of
sources and media. Upload the RLRS Copyright Policy to the
VoiceThread. This can give them an opportunity to recall a forgotten
and perhaps violated school policy.
4. Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision MakingStudents use critical thinking skills to plan and manage
projects and make informed decisions using appropriate tools
and resources.
b. Students plan activities to complete a project, the VoiceThread.
When there are many students in a class, have them quickly divide
into groups. One group watches a Creative Commons video and
searches their site for applicable photos. A group can search our
RLRS photo bank for photos of local things. One group can go
outside to take photos of the school for the project. One group
records video and pictures on PhotoBooth.

5. Digital Citizenship- Students practice legal and ethical

behavior.
a. Students practice legal and responsible use of information and
technology. This project might be viewed by the public, so a group
of students should check to see that permission has been granted
for each student to appear publicly. We only use or create our own
material in effort to be in compliance with the school's Copyright
Policy.
6. Technology Operations and Concepts- Students demonstrate
a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and
operations.
b. Students demonstrate knowledge of which applications and
software would assist in the creation of the VoiceThread.
d. Students in transfer their current knowledge of MLTI software
and applications, use of digital equipment, organization and time
management skills to learning the new technology of the
VoiceThread.
