Teacher survey requesting one research platform for students
to use
collaboratively or individually.
Several teachers have been trained and are using NoodleTools.
Mandatory basic training is required for all teachers.
Staff was sent a link with basic information and an overview of
NoodleTools capabilities and features.
Teacher responses gathered from pre-workshop questionnaire
collecting
questions and concerns regarding the research process.
Objectives
Teachers will understand the basic function and purpose of
NoodleTools.
Teachers will experience NoodleTools from the perspective of a
student.
Teachers will understand how the teacher account will assist
them in
improving student research skills and promoting Standards for
the 21st
Century Learner.
Format
This will be a three hour workshop on one of the teacher inservice days.
The workshop will start with lecture. Each section will be
modeled using
a projector. Teachers will participate in hands-on activities as if
they were
students and then later as the teacher. This will allow them to
experience
NoodleTools as the student and teacher.
Teachers will attend the workshop in the library starting at
8:30am.
Snacks and breaks will be included.

Librarian/Media specialist will be available in the afternoon for

individual
questions or concerns.
Note: When introducing new technology, the district provides
instruction in the morning and playtime (practice) in the afternoon so
staff can immediately use what they have learned rather than putting
it aside for when they have time.
Activities
Introduction
Agenda will be handed out and explained. Previously trained and
experienced teachers will be introduced. Teachers will be grouped by
subject matter or grade level. There will be one experienced teacher
in each group to help answer questions.
Register for teacher account
All teachers will register for their own account. Teachers will also
set up a Sample Dropbox for training purposes. The librarian will go
through each step on the projector. Teachers will then exit the teacher
account. We will come back to this later.
Register for mock student account
Each teacher will register as a mock student so they can go
through the training and experience the student side of NoodleTools.
Assignment / Break:
Each teacher should have decided on a topic for research
ahead of time. As a group, the teachers will decide on one of the
topics in order to complete the training as a group project. Each
teacher will find one website (good or bad) to use later in the training.
When finished, teachers may take a break.
NoodleTools for Students
Each teacher will go through the process of opening a student
project based on their original topic idea. The teacher that originally
thought of the topic to be used as the group project will then share
the project with the other teachers in their group. When the teachers
refresh their computers, they should have their individual project and
the group project. The rest of the training will be completed in the
group project in order for teachers to see the collaborative nature of
NoodleTools.
Hands-On Activities:

Teachers will be guided through the process of citing sources and

creating a bibliography using the website they found earlier. The
different features and components will be discussed and used.
Teachers will be guided through the process of creating
notecards. The different features and components will be discussed
and used.
Teachers will also experience the various organization features,
tags and outline capabilities available in NoodleTools.
Playtime / Break:
Teachers may continue to work with NoodleTools and ask
questions or they may take a break.
NoodleTools for Teachers
Teachers will sign out of their mock student account and sign
into their teacher account. They should be able to see the group
project shared with them.
Hands-On Activities:
Teachers will be guided through the different components and features
available on the teacher side of NoodleTools. They will be able to go
through student work, comment and see student work logs.
Closing: Sharing & Observations
An overview of the major components of NoodleTools will be
discussed. A quick reference handout will be given to the teachers.
Teachers will be able to share any thoughts or questions they have
regarding NoodleTools. Teachers will be given an In-Service Evaluation
to complete.
Organization
Planning and presentation of the workshop will be done by the
Librarian.
Previously trained teachers will assist during the workshop.
Snacks will be donated by the local bakery.
Door prizes will be donated by local merchants. Grand prize:
Principal
will substitute for a 9th period class so teacher can go leave early.
To generate excitement for the workshop:
Invitations will be personally delivered to each teacher.
Reminder notices will be placed in teacher mailboxes.
An E-mail will be sent with the agenda and door prizes
listed.
Ticket for door prizes will pre-selected topic for research.
Evaluation

Teachers will complete an In-Service Evaluation at the end of

the
workshop.
4 weeks after the workshop, a Google survey will be sent to the
teachers.
The survey will include questions and concerns the
teachers may have
and if they feel a follow-up training is necessary.
Results of the survey and the answers to any questions or
concerns will be
sent to all teachers.
Follow-up
PowerPoint presentations will be e-mailed to teachers for
reference.
The librarian will personally contact each teacher to see if there
are any
questions or concerns.
The librarian will continue to be available for questions as
needed.
A refresher workshop and Q&A session for troubleshooting
will be
planned based on survey and personal contact with teachers.
