A solid state vibrator for the WS19MK3 power supply

The power supply of the WS19 MK3 use a vibrator Mallory G634C in order to produce the HT voltage for
the A receiver and the B and IC equipment.
Some years ago I had to replace the vibrator in my 19, so I decided to substitute it with a solid state
one.
The figure below show the schematics of the original power supply, where the vibrator is connected by a 4
pin socket; 3 of pins are connected, the forth pin is not.
I indicated the connected pins of the socket with the numbers 1, 2 and 3; the number 4 is the + 12V
connection.
The next figure is the solid state circuit that must be connected in place of the vibrator.

The solid state circuit is composed by an multivibrator (IC1), that generates a square wave which
frequency is about 115Hz (adjustable by R2). The square wave drives the transistors Q1, Q2 (drivers) and
then Q3,Q4 (switching Darlington transistors) in phase opposition.

The collectors of Q3 and Q4 are connected to the primary winding of T/C101A and perform as the
mechanical vibrators contacts switching the primary winding alternatively to ground .
The circuit is powered from the +12V voltage that is stabilized to +9.1V by a zener diode.
The groups R6/C3 and R7/C4 work as delay networks in order to avoid the contemporary conduction of Q3
and Q4 (T/C101A in short circuit condition).

In order to maintain the possibility of substitution between the mechanical and the solid state vibrators I
connected the +12V to the free pin of the vibrator socket, and I performed the connection of the solid
state circuit by a plug connector that I recovered from a damaged vibrator.
Q3 and Q4 must be dissipated by a small heat sink (I used an aluminium plate, 50 cm2, 1mm tick).
In order to complete the solid state transformation, I also assembled 2 of 1N4007 rectifier diode on a plug
of a damaged octal tube to put in the place of the V/C101A tube socket.
