PSYCH 202: PSYCH 202 Biopsychology (5) NW Bernstein, Diaz, Kim,Olavarria
Examines the biological basis of behavior, the nervous system, how it works to control behavior
and sense the world, and what happens when it malfunctions. Topics include learning and
memory, development, sex, drugs, sleep, the senses, emotions, and mental disorders.
Prerequisite: PSYCH 101. Offered: AWSpS.
I want to take this class because it sounds really interesting in the
sense that it would help me understand more about human personality and
behavior as a whole. Another thing that appeals to me in this class is how the
class material would relate to all humans, allowing me to better understand
people, which falls in line with my interests in health care providing. A
consequence of this is that this class would allow me to understand more
about myself too. Studying the mental processes of humans is extremely
fascinating.
NURS 301: NURS 301 Clinical Applications of Anatomy and Physiology (3)
Application of anatomic and physiologic concepts to selected clinical phenomena. Focuses on
integrated responses and functional health patterns. Exemplars of developmental and lifespan
factors are identified. Includes experiential activities to enhance integration of content. Offered:
AS.
I want to take this class because the service learning component of this
class really appeals to me, especially since it is related to caring for other
people. I want to learn more about the health care field from this class and,
hopefully, learn much more about the medical field. In addition, learning
about human development falls in line with my interest in being able to
understand and help people better.
IMMUN 441: IMMUN 441 Introduction to Immunology (4) NW
General properties of immune responses; cells and tissues of immune system; lymphocyte
activation and specificity; effector mechanisms; immunity to microbes; immunodeficiency and
AIDS; autoimmune diseases; transplantation. Prerequisite: BIOL 220; may not be repeated;
recommended: GENOME 371, GENOME 372, BIOC 405, or BIOC 440. Offered: A.
I want to take this class because it gets into the nuts and bolts of what
I want to study after I graduate. Being able to take this class is still a whiles
away, but learning more about sickness, and how I could possibly help other
people prevent getting sick, is basically what I want to do when I grow up.
