STUDENT PROJECT PROPOSAL

Name of the Student

This proposal has four sections to be completed.
These are: Project Proposal, Project Management,
Project Resourcing and Delivery, Project Evaluation.

queries to your Year Tutor on
madeleine.trigg@cssd.ac.uk

SECTION ONE: PROJECT PROPOSAL
Please outline below the aims and scope of your projects.
Please consider what you want to explore artistically, what
the aim of the process is and how it relates to your current
work, development and learning. If you are working on
more than one project, please ensure that you specify
why. (300-500 words)

I currently dont know what area I want to explore as a

practitioner, whether that is writing, or directing, or
something else altogether. But what I do know is the kind of
theatre and performance that I love, and at the very core of
it all what it means and why it matters to me.
Wet Picnics artistic intentions match my own very
well, in their engagement with audience, the way they
actively seek audience participation and the manner in
which they leave their audience uplifted. I would ideally like
to spend part of my placement assisting them, shadowing
the director during the rehearsal process, and observing and
if possible participating in the devising process, to see how
a devising process is structured in a small but professional
theatre company, so that I one day myself can learn from it
and apply it to my own practice.
I am hoping that this placement will enlighten me as to
which direction I want to follow in my future practice.
I am also working on a placement with Cool Tan Arts, a
company that works with adults with mental health issues,
making art for the sake of art. I have experience in working
with students with disabilities involving performance and
have not yet experienced, but would be interested in
working with people with mental health issues. I have the
seen the inherently positive effect that performance and the
creative arts have had on people I have worked with that
have various learning difficulties, ranging from autism, to a
severe stammer. I would like to learn more about the
positive effects the creative arts can have on the individual,
and I think this would help me develop as a practitioner in
terms of engaging my audience on a personal level.

SECTION TWO: PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Please state below the timeline of your project/s. Please
include the start and end date. You have to remember to
allow yourself time to write the assessment for the unit 1,
which we recommend is two weeks at the end of term.
Please ensure this is clearly formatted.

an extension being agreed. Extension request forms must be submitted at least seven days prior to
the due date. Extension forms are available on Learnzone. Always send your completed form to

SECTION FOUR: PROJECT EVALUATION

Please include below your statement of goals. Please offer
us at least five goals that you have for the project and how
you might measure their outcome.

Gain a clearer intention of how I want to engage my

audience in my future work as an artist Learn more about gentle
audience participation from speaking with practitioners who do
this successfully, such as Rajni Shah and Wet Picnic a lot of this
experience will be gained during placement.

Develop handshake performance into a small polished,

portable 1 minute piece rehearsals with Jonas. This can be a
performance or happening where the audience are invited to join
research into the history of the handshake, perhaps experiment
with different forms of this performance: eg. Instructions for
audience members to create their own handshake, inviting
audience to interact with one another which creates a discussion.

Continue to document online and improve presentation

skills in layout and format, gaining more general technical skill in
creating a website.
