To Whom It May Concern:
1am proud to write this letter of recommendation for Taylor Sergent. I strongly believe Taylor is a phenomenal
teacher candidate who will make any educational institution stronger. I had the opportunity to work with and
observe Taylor throughout the entire 2014-2015 school year at Grand Blane High School. During this time
Taylor taught World History and U.S. History classes and contributed to the Grand Blane High School social
studies department in countless ways. I believe that Taylor’s passion for working with his students and strong
desire to improve his craft daily, will make him successful throughout his career in education
Upon meeting Taylor for the first time I was extremely impressed with his passion, maturity, and eagemess to
begin his teaching experience. Once the school year began he quickly proved this early impression correct by
diving into his new responsibilities. Taylor immediately began preparing quality short and long term lesson
plans that fulfilled all obligations and engaged student learning. His depth of knowledge is far beyond any other
student teaching intern that I have met in my sixteen years in the classroom; and he excels in integrating details
into every lesson that extends far beyond the textbook. It is clear to me after months of observations that Taylor
is extremely dedicated to his craft and works extremely hard to create the most valuable, relevant, and
interesting units possible.
‘Most importantly, Taylor was immediately able to establish a positive connection with his students as well as
the staff at Grand Blane High School. He quickly created a classroom environment where students felt
comfortable and at ease; never afraid to make mistakes or ask questions. It was easy to see that students loved
being in Taylor's class. His command of the classroom was exemplary and he fostered a community of mutual
respect with his students. Taylor consistently showed a strong desire to learn new strategies, listen to concerns,
and was always looking for an opportunity to improve. He continually asked myself, as well as other
colleagues, for advice and suggestions on a regular basis. Taylor internalized this feedback which was proven
through his actions both in and out of the classroom.
In conclusion, I feel extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Taylor this year and I wish
there was an opportunity for him to join our staff full-time. His work has been exemplary and I strongly believe
Taylor Sergent would make an outstanding candidate for any high school or middle school Social Studies
position. There are few guarantees in life, yet I am confident in saying that Taylor will excel as a teacher and
have a positive influence on the lives of the students that he will serve.
Sincerely,
S
