PARISH BULLETIN February 22nd, 2015

THEME FOR THE FIRST WEEK OF LENT FEBRUARY 22, 2015
LIVING LENT WITH PASSION: A PATH OF PRAYER
Lent is a season of grace. It is also a season to challenge ourselves. In particular, this Lent invites us to be more fully
alive, to live with passion We cannot be fully live to life unless we are more fully connected to Christ. As we begin this
season of Lent, take time to reflect on your prayer life, and what needs to change? How often do you pray each day?
Make a conscious effort to add one more moment of prayer each day. It does not need to be long, just an extra time for
prayer. (This change is not limited to Lent)
FR. JOHNS WEBNOTES FEBRUARY 22ND - FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT
The first reading presents Gods promise to restore to unity and prosperity a people dispersed by disaster and division.
For us, as for the people of Israel, this is a promise full of hope: it points to a future which God is even now preparing
for us. Yet this promise is inseparably tied to a command: the command to return to God and wholeheartedly obey his
law (cf. Dt 30:2-3). Gods gifts of reconciliation, unity and peace are inseparably linked to the grace of conversion, a
change of heart which can alter the course of our lives and our history, as individuals and as a people.
Homily, August 18, 2014, Korea
The season of Lent is a grace filled time. It is a time to draw closer to God, to turn away from sin and to seek
reconciliation with God and with others. Sin causes division, between God and between others. reconciliation helps to
heal that division. Conversion, that change of heart, gives us the strength to change our hearts. How are you being
called to turn from sin and return to the Lord.? Pick one area and let that be your Lenten exercise of conversion.
