MRDT concluded contract on Tourists Records Information System

Bucharest, June 7, 2011 - Early this month, the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism signed
the contract to create a Tourists Records Information System. The system is one of the MRDT tools to
combat tax evasion in tourism and will constitute an important source of statistical indicators in the
field.
Within six months after signing the contract, IBM will achieve for the MRDT the design and
implementation of the Integrated Information System for Tourists Records. Thus, IBM will supply the
necessary hardware and software components and will provide services of analysis, installation,
configuration, testing and system development for the system, as well as services of maintenance and
training for the MRDT employees involved in the development of the project.
Subsequently, the classified accommodation establishments all over the Romanian territory will be able
to register in the System and to access it daily, in order to enter data on occupancy records in their own
unit. The system will allow daily reporting, by each accommodation unit, of the number of tourists
registered in the respective unit. Thus, for the first time, the MRDT will be provided real and daily
updated information in this field.
The main advantages the System offers, by providing real information and daily updated information in
this field, refer to:

the possibility for the MRDT to make a real-time comparison of the situation in accommodation
establishments with the data reported within the system, which leads to a more efficient activity
of control and combat tax evasion in tourism;
the possibility for the MRDT to obtain data on the evolution of certain indicators in the tourism
sector, data that can be used to form the basis for future decisions or strategies in the field.

The tender organized by the MRDT to acquire the Integrated Information System for Tourists Records
took place in April. After the analysis of the documentation submitted, conducted by the evaluation
committee, the contract was awarded to SC IBM Romania SRL, the only participant in the procedure,
for a value of 2,089,122 lei, including VAT.
