1. Provide a brief overview of the scope of the internship in terms of projects, tasks,
role of the site, and role of the student.
The preceptors role is to be the liaison between the student and the field. The
preceptor offers the opportunity to obtain further knowledge, skills, and experiences
surrounding the CLAS (CLAS Standards & SB 853 Regulations) and ADA (Americans
with Disabilities Act) Standards specifically for communication needs, while utilizing the
students abilities and providing a valuable service to the community. The role of the
student is to assist the supervisors duties to ensure the hospital is compliant with laws
as well as to gain additional experience, skills, and knowledge. The student will complete
the tasks assigned by the preceptor within a timely and appropriate manner. The tasks
forecasted by the preceptorship include data entry, audit on QBS files, plan and execute
Video Remote Interpreting Pilot Program, assist in the development of an easy to read
guide of all assistive listening devices, and other tasks relevant to the programs Work
Plan for the Winter 2015 quarter of preceptorship.
2. State the measurable objectives and indicate the related program learning
outcome for the Field Experience that will be accomplished:

A. By March 23, 2015, intern will have assisted with planning and rolling out the
Video Remote Interpreting Pilot in the Emergency Department, Urgent Care, 24
Hour Pharmacy, Family Medicine, and Radiology by making sure workflow is in
place, materials are ready, staffs are trained, equipment is functioning, monitor
progress and make improvements as needed. (SLO 6.1, SLO 7.1, SLO 8.1, SLO,
9.1)
B. By January 30, 2015, intern will have developed an easy to read and find guide
of all assistive listening devices by developing a plan, determining the layout of
the facility, and constructing a system that allows physician and staff to locate
and access devices. (SLO 6.2, SLO 7.2)
C. By March 1, 2015, intern will compose e-mails and follow-up calls to track down
location of all assistive learning devices. (SLO 7.1, SLO 13.1)
D. By March 23, 2015, as required by state and federal laws, intern will ensure
appropriate documents on staff providing language assistance. Assure those on
file have identifying badges. Require data entry. Project expected to take one
week. Intermittent on staff responses needing a badge holder. (SLO 9.2, SLO
10.2)
E. By March 23, 2015, intern will have created a chart review in preparation for the
Joint Commission by auditing charts, verifying how the service is used, and
providing in-service on documents, tools, and resources available. (SLO 6.1,
SLO 9.1, SLO 9.2, SLO 13.1)
