JOBSHADOWINGOBSERVATION:

This school year, I have the privilege of working beside one ofmy rolemodels
and close adult friends. Ever since I have known her, Ihavepopped my headin her
classroom and was astounded at the ability she hasto conveythe studentsdo idolize
her.Its not that shedoes it on purpose, butthrough her wayof teaching sheisableto
haveallofthechildrenshecomesacrosslookuptoher.

Since I am in music, customs, and culture in the Early Elementary, I see 12

classrooms throughout my time there. The dynamic of every class is very different.

amount oflove. Shehasexpressedtobethateventhoughshelikesotherclassesmore
than others, she loves them all equally I think this is vital to a teacherand hisor her
success.
Mrs. Krempa sees the youngfives, firstandsecond graderswhile Iam there,I
see first and second graders. There is an obvious difference between thetwogrades
and even though they are very different maturity wise, they are given the same
procedures. These include walking into the classroom quietly, finding his or hername
tag,walkingontheorangelinealltheway aroundtheEarthcarpetuntiltheyarebytheir
seat.WhileMrs.Krempawas explaining theprocedures, sheshowedthekidswhat not
to do andaskedthem if whatshewas doing wasrightorwrong.Thatwaytheyhadthe
opportunity to show her that they know what the rules are.Oneof the most important
thingsI observed was theaskingofquestions.Kidsrespondbetterwhenyougivethem
thechoicebetweenrightorwrong.
Because wehave onlyseen each of theclassroomstogetherfor30minutes,we
have yet to get to individual activities. The consistency of the rules and expectations
withbebeneficialwhenthetimecomestoparticipateinotheractivities.
