Assessment &
Evaluation

Start the class with open ended questions: What do you think
a digital footprint is? Why do you think we need to understand
about digital footprints? What effects could a digital footprint
have on ones reputation? Or safety? What other things might
be consider when talking about digital footprints? Then we
will discuss. Next the students will watch this video
(https://vialogues.com/vialogues/play/20410) on their devices.
They will have time to comment on the video and then come
back together. If needed, we will talk more about the digital
footprint. Next, we will watch this clip
(https://vialogues.com/vialogues/play/20412#external). We
will talk about how it appear funny on a TV show, but what
some real effects might be (i.e. college application, future
jobs, etc.). The next video we will watch is this
(http://www.today.com/parents/teachers-viral-letter-showsstudents-dangers-social-media-1D80395915). We will talk
about this as a class. At the end of this, we will talk more
about how this effects future decisions, how colleges and
employers can find images and decide not to hire or accept
someone because of them. We will talk about a digital
footprint and safety. If someone can find pictures, a random
person can find other information. This will lead into the
activity.
Activity with some collaboration. Students will watch this video
(xhttps://vialogues.com/vialogues/play/20411#external) and
comment on the discussion. Next students will be guided by a
worksheet. The worksheet will have instructions on what to Google and
then some suggestions that they can try. They will be Googling
themselves to see what information is on the web. This is to show the
students that other people can see this information too. This is in
regards to safety and colleges/jobs.
Students will submit a paragraph talking about what they learned and

what they will do with this information.

The students will share their thoughts on the Vialogue discussions.
At the end of the class students will write a paragraph about what
they learned and how they will use this new information.
