1.Present simple form and its timeline
2. Definition and practical implication of present simple.
3. Using pronouns with the present simple verb.

Anticipated problems for Teacher:


1. The teacher may face difficulties while explaining that certain pronouns
require an S ending and some do not.
Solution: The Teacher will present the grammar rules for using the S ending
in a PowerPoint slide to clear any confusion. The teacher will also revise the
rules with the class through a presentation to show if the pronouns require an
S ending or not.
Anticipated problems for Students:
1. Students may not emphasize the pronunciation of the letter S at the end of
the verb form.
Solution: Teacher will make sure that students pronounce the s ending
through chorally drilling the verb used as an example for the present simple
tense.

T will have the second slide of the PowerPoint slide open.
T will engage the Ss in a discussion by asking certain questions to help Ss form their concept of the present simple tense. T
will answer each question while repeating the answer twice to make sure that students understand.
i.e. 1.Where do you think the present tense belongs in this time line?
2. Which tense is before the present tense?
3. Which tense comes after the present tense?
4. Can you guess the meaning of present tense?
After going over the present tense, T will then focus the Ss attention to questions that relate to the present simple tense.
5. Do you think that the present simple tense is about now or about the future?
6. What can the present simple tense be used to describe?

T will start the grammar presentation from slide three onwards in the PowerPoint presentation.
T will explain the definition of present simple and show examples to create familiarity with the concept.
T will focus on the use of pronouns with verbs in the present simple form.

T will then ask CCQs after finishing the PowerPoint presentation.

T will provide a list of 20 verbs with their present simple form (basic verb form + s)
T will read out the verbs and instruct the Ss to repeat the words after the T.
The objective of the choral drill will be to help ensure that students are able to effectively pronounce the letter S at the end
of the word that is in the present simple tense.
T will give each Ss a present simple worksheet that contains 19 gap fill questions. Each gap fill sentence will have a picture
at the end to hint to the correct answer. There will be a verb bank at the top of the sheet that will contain all possible
answers.

Ss will have 8 minutes to work on the exercise sheet.
