I traveled around my county applying herbicides to noxious weeds, using a spraying tank
connected to a pick-up truck. Through this summer job, I was entrusted with many
responsibilities. I learned how to safely mix and handle toxic chemicals, and was faced the
task of keeping records of how much was sprayed. Aside from some rudimentary technical
skills, this job helped develop ethical standards within my own work ethic.

I attended North Dakota Leadership Seminar as a sophomore in high school, and have
returned there to volunteer as a Junior Coach every year since. The organization is devoted to
forging leaders in the state of North Dakota, and urges its members to reach 110 volunteer
hours per year. I have stayed involved with the organization, helping to plan and coordinate
events and completing volunteer time for the organization. It has helped me see the value of
volunteer service, has boosted my ambition, encouraged me to be as involved as possible,
and has taught me some fundamentals of leadership.

I was an orientation leader for Concordia College at the beginning of the 2014-2015
