Annotated Bibliography: Entitlement Reform

Morgan Tom. "We're At A Fork In The Road On Entitlement Reform." Business Journal (Central New
York) 25.34 (2011): 13. Small Business Reference Center. Web. 12 Feb. 2015.
This article explains the authors frustration with President Obama, and how he is not reforming
entitlements. The author states that a more conservative congress is more likely to push for deeper
reform. Also the author states more than sixty percent of our budget is for entitlements. From this
article it is implied multiple times that President Obama is not doing anything to reform entitlements. It
is made clear that the author of this article is not a fan of Obama and his way of entitlement reform.
According to this article Obama just wants to raise benefits and cut benefits. Question is, is the
president really going to reform entitlements?
This source is reliable because it comes from a credible and trusts worthy source. However, this article
is bias for entitlement reform. This article also includes dates and factual statements. The author also
writes about financial topics, along with that he has his own radio show and new TV show. This article
was printed in a newspaper, which gets published every week. I do think that the information that I
gathered from this article is honest. The author also states his reasoning for why he says what he does.
This article is great for my research paper because it gives me relevant information as to what I am
working on. This article gave me a new insight to entitlement reform. As stated before the author states
that A more conservative congress is more likely to push for a deeper reform. This statement from
the author gave me better insight as to what type of government may be more lenient on entitlement
reform. From this article I learned that two of the biggest entitlements are Social security and Medicare.
This article did not change my mind on this topic, just gave me better insight.
William, Greider. "Democrats Embrace the Good Kind of 'Entitlement Reform'" Democrats Embrace
the Good Kind of 'Entitlement Reform' The Nation, 17 July 2014. Web. 19 Feb. 2015.
This article summarizes a bias point of view on a good type of entitlement reform. The author of this
article feels that if the cap on social security was eliminated deductions now at $117,000 would boost
benefits seventy-dollars. The author just states his feeling on what the good of reform could do. Not,
reform where entitlements are actually taken away. This is a great article for someone who is against
entitlement reform.
This source is reliable because I acquired it from a truth worthy website. The author states many facts
in this article. He includes many numbers and important dates. This article is relatively recent and the

information I gathered from this article is sufficient. As stated before this article is bias on the behalf of
a person against entitlement reform. The fact that the author has many different points that I didn't think
about included into this article makes it really great.
This article is great for my project because it gives my paper some drama. I have more than one point
of views based upon these articles. Even though I am for entitlement reform having different opinions
gives my paper some contrast. This article made it a little clearer as to why entitlements are important
and why they are essential. This article also talks about the two main entitlements: social security
and Medicare. I am glad that I found this article because I do feel like it is an essential piece.
Kramer, Mattea. "What Is Entitlement Reform?" RSS. N/A, 6 Jan. 2013. Web. 19 Feb. 2015.
This article is a mix of both point of views, for and against entitlement reform. This article in the being
breaks down the definition of entitlement reform. Entitlement reform refers to the proposal by some
lawmakers that such programs should be overhauled in order to reduce spending. I really like how the
author took the time to make sure the reader actually knew what entitlement reform was. This article
talks about how Medicare and social security make up a large share of the federal budget. Also, how it
is talked about raising the eligibility age from 65 to 67 to receive social security benefits.
This is a reliable source because it comes from a credible website. This website has plenty of articles
talking about the federal budget and such things. This website is presented really well. There are many
of facts stated and, it really makes me think. This article is about two years old, but the information that
I got from this article is still true today. I like how the article is easy to understand and has everything
broken down.
Of all the sources I have to say I think this is the most important one. I say that because this article
includes both sides. This article states things that are for entitlement reform such as; pushing the
eligibility age to 67. But it has statements against entitlement reform like; changing the eligibility age
would raise health care costs. Therefore, I really like the contrast this article has. It really really
beneficial to my paper.
