Reporting Relationship
The Partner- in-Parenting employee will work under the direction and supervision of the Aboriginal Healthy Baby, Healthy Children
(AHBHC) Supervisor and is a member of the MChigeeng First Nation Health Services team. This team falls under the supervision and
guidance of the Health Services Department Manager.
Program Information
The objectives of the AHBHB program are to improve the long term aspects of children ages 0-6 years old. The program includes pre
and post-natal screening & assessment, home visits, service co-ordination, support and service integration. The elements of this
program are voluntary and open to all families residing in MChigeeng First Nation that require this service. Services will be prioritized
based on need.
Position Summary
The incumbent will provide direct child and family support to all children 0-6 years old and/or families that are expecting a baby,
residing on the MChigeeng First Nation and will assist in carrying out the goals of the AHBHC program:
To assist all Anishinabek families to provide the best opportunities for healthy development for children up to 6 years of age
To act as a means for a coordinated, effective, integrated system of services and supports for healthy child development
Essential Functions
Provide early interventions in the lives of children 0-6 and their families living in MFN by collaborating and through
partnerships with other community programs.
Adhere to MChigeeng First Nations protocol with Kina Gbezhgomi Child and Family Services as applicable
Encourage and support the well-being of children and parents through community interaction and approaches
Support Early Childhood Development programs at the community level that address AHBHC program goals
Promote and protect First Nation culture and languages, nutrition, education, health promotion, social support and
parent/family involvement
Use community based intervention activities designed to help children 06 get the best start in life and promotion of positive
parenting experiences
Qualifications and Requirements
Preferred
Post-Secondary Diploma in Social Service or related field
Three (3) years related work experience
Minimum
Early Childhood Education Diploma
Three to five (3-5) years related work experience
Other
Extensive knowledge of Ojibwe culture, language and traditions
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Working knowledge with program reporting and data collection
Ability to work within a team
Valid Ontario drivers license and own vehicle
Valid CPR and First Aid Certificate
CRC/VSS requirement, must be thirty (30) days current, original or certified copy
Must be able and/or willing to learn and use the Ojibwe Language
It is mandatory for the successful candidate to submit a current (30 days) VSS; offer of employment will be subject to the
receipt of a satisfactory CRC/VSS record.

CRC/VSS Rationale: MChigeeng First Nation and its agents are in a position of trust in services to band member children and/or vulnerable adults,
so a safe and secure working environment is mandatory. Applicants must provide a clear VSS Certificate and the CRC must have a record clear
and/or dated of any convictions relating to alcohol, drugs, assault, violence and theft. The CRC and VSS must be current (30 days) and must be an
