Are Violent Video Games The Culprit?
Killer a last man standing water pistol game is a end of the year ritual at several New York cities
high schools. The game lasts two and a half weeks at St. Anns private high school and the
students there have developed rules, a Safe zone which is the school, and twenty dollar entry
fee. (Martin). Even though the other side says that role playing violent video games are bad and
causing teens/people to do violent things, But role playing video games are diverting to the high
schoolers and and take their minds off of school.

My first reason that role playing violent video games are good is because the stuff in violent
video games is mostly not going to happen, and is alternative reality. This evidence supports my
claim of role playing violent video games being alternative reality because (Grand Theft Auto V
does have morally reprehensible characters, but the vast majority of people who play this sort of
game hopefully the adults who play it, and not impressionable children see this as one of virtual,
temporary, and entirely fantastical debauchery.) "Do Games Like 'Grand Theft Auto V' Cause
Real-World Violence?.) That piece of evidence supports my reason because its stating that the
people who do play the game see it as a virtual, temporary, and entirely fantastical debauchery.
(We can drive through stop lights, mow over civilians, crash and die and start over, get in
ridiculous gunfights and still walk away on two feet. Or even just go shopping, or play golf, or
hunt. We are given a vast canvas of possibilities, and the freedom to pretend to break bad in a
cartoonish, outlandish, alternative reality. ("Do Games Like 'Grand Theft Auto V' Cause Real-

World Violence?.) This supported my reason because in real life you cant just run through stop
lights, mow over civilians, walk away from gunfights on two feet its fictional. (
If there is truly a direct causal link between games like Grand Theft Auto V and violent
shootings, we will soon have 18 to 20 million killers not to mention the countless millions more
who have been playing violent video games for years.) "Do Games Like 'Grand Theft Auto V'
Cause Real-World Violence?.) Lastly this supports my reason because theres no way we could
have 18 to 20 million killers from a game that should be taken as fictional.

My second reason that role playing violent video games are good is because its keeping
potential criminals from committing crimes, because their spending so much time playing violent
video games. (According to Levitt, potential criminals arent committing crimes because they
are spending so much time playing violent video games.)"Violent Video Games May Stop
Crime by Keeping Criminals Busy Playing Violent Video Games.) That piece of evidence
supports my claim because if criminals are busy playing violent video games they wont be
committing crimes. (As violent video games have become more popular, violent crime rate has
fallen.) "Do Games Like 'Grand Theft Auto V' Cause Real-World Violence?.) That supports my
claim because its proving that as more violent video games are becoming popular violent crime
rate has fallen, meaning some of the potential criminals arent committing crimes because they
are perhaps playing violent video games. (Basically Levitt is arguing that on a macroscopic
scale, if you men those who are most likely to commit violent acts, if they are kept busy in front
of their computers and tvs for hours on end, they will be too busy to go out into the streets and
do real violent things.) "Violent Video Games May Stop Crime by Keeping Criminals Busy
Playing Violent Video Games.) Supporting my claim once again that if these criminals are kept
busy playing violent video games they wont be doing violent criminal things.

My last reason that role playing violent video games are good is because its not violent video
games causing violent crime like mass shootings its untreated mental illnesses. This evidence
supports my claim of role playing violent video games not causing the action its the untreated
mental illnesses. (No study has ever shown that violent video games result directly in actual
violence, let alone mass shootings. )"Do Games Like 'Grand Theft Auto V' Cause Real-World
Violence?.) That evidence supports my reason because its stating that its not the violent video
games causing the violence. (The other big common theme across all these mass murderers are
untreated mental illnesses.) "Do Games Like 'Grand Theft Auto V' Cause Real-World
Violence?.) This is supporting my claim because its saying that untreated mental illnesses are
the common factor in these mass murders. (If it were as simple as saying violent video games
kill people! then wed really be in trouble. Its a silly fallacy, of course. (Homicidal maniacs kill
people. Homicidal maniacs play video games. Therefore, video games cause homicidal maniacs
to kill people.) "Do Games Like 'Grand Theft Auto V' Cause Real-World Violence?.) Lastly this
evidence is supporting my claim because its stating that its not violent video games causing the
violence its untreated mental illnesses, which is good news to gamers!

Even though the other side says role playing violent video games are bad for teens and are
causing them to play and do violent things. (As violent video games have become more popular,
violent crime rate has fallen.) "Do Games Like 'Grand Theft Auto V' Cause Real-World
Violence?.) This evidence refutes the other sides counterclaim because the other side is saying
that violent video games are causing people to do violent things, But my evidence stated that as
violent video games have become more popular, violent crime rate has fallen.

In conclusion role playing violent video games are deflecting to teens because the stuff in violent
video games is most likely not going to happen, and is alternative reality. Also its keeping
potential criminals from committing crimes, because their spending so much time playing violent
video games. Lastly its not violent video games causing violent crime like mass shootings, its
untreated mental illnesses. Dont feel pressured in buying a violent video game because its not
the game that may make you violent. I used to think that violent video games were not good and
may have caused violence, but its not violent video games that will cause violent crimes, it
usually has to do with a mental illnesses or just a violent nature.
