Acting with dispatch, a composite team of National Bureau of Investigation
(NB) agents proceeded to arrest fugitive Jason Aguilar Ivler in his residence in
Quezon City, during which a gunbatile ensued leading to the wounding of
suspect and two Bureau agents in Blue Ridge. Quezon City early this morning.
According to NBI Director Nestor M. Mantaring, the Bureau received
teliable information that Ivler was hiding in their residence at Hillside Drive, Blue
Ridge A, Quezon City. in the early morning of even date, NBI Special Action Unit
(SAU), Field Operations Division (FOD) and Intelligence Services (IS) agents
were dispatched to serve the warrant of arrest for him.
Once inside, and in the presence of his mother, Marlene Aguilar, Bureau
agents searched the house. In Jason's room, was found a wet towel, which
apparently was recently used. With this lead, agents continued the search until
they chance upon a small storeroom. It had a stack of figurines made of paper
mache which appeared as a cover.
After confirming is presence there, NBI agents called out Ivier to surrender
but were met with a barrage of gunfire. The arresting team retariated resulting in
the wounding of Ivler on the stomach and shoulder. Atty. Angelito Magno, Chief
of the SAU sustained a gunshot waund on the right leg, while SI Ana Lira Labao
was shot on the chest. Both lawmen however survived.
Charges of Complex Crime of violation Art. 148 (Direct Assault) with
violation of Art. 248 (Frustrated Murder) of the Revised Penal Cade as amended;
and Complex Crime of violation of Art. 148 (Direct Assault) with violation of Art.
248 (Attempted Murder) of the Revised Penal Code as amended are being
prepared against Jason Ivler.
On the other hand, charges for violation of PD 1828 (Obstruction of
dustice) were filed against Marlene Aguilar before the Department of Justice
yesterday.
A P1 million bounty was offered for his arrest.
