    presidentoftheUnitedStatesandhetriedtosavetheunionwhiletheCivilwarwasgoingonandfreed
    someslavesfromtheSouth.Hewastheonlypresidentoreventheonlymanwhostoodupforthe
    slavesatthattime.Althoughhethoughthewassuperior,hewantedthebestfortheslaves.IfLincoln
    didntexistbackthenthepresentandfuturewouldbedifferentasexpected.Itwashardtotellif
    AbrahamLincolnwasracistornotbecausesometimesLincolnthoughtwhitesweresuperiorandin
    otherpartshesaidblackswereequalandthesameasthem,basedontheletterLincolnsenttoStephen
    Douglas.
    ItishardtotellwhetherornotAbrahamLincolnwasracist.InaletterAbrahamLincolnwrote
    toStephenA.Douglaswhoisanewspapereditory,hewrotethatButintherighttoeatthebread
