Dear Ms. Sweem:
Please accept this letter as an expression of my interest for the 2015
Globalinks summer internship program in Valencia, Spain. Included in
this letter is a description of my experience and education and skill set.
My contact information and a more detailed summary of my experience
can be found on my personal Weebly account at
kenbayer.weebly.com.
Academically, I am a sophomore in Arizona State Universitys Barretts
Honors College. My major course of study is Early Childhood
Educations/Special Education and I am pursuing a minor in Spanish. I
maintain a 3.9 grade point average and have been involved in a number
of philanthropic events through various organizations.
Outside my university studies, I continue to obtain applicable experience
that will be useful as an internship program participant. Currently, I am
employed as a tutor in the areas of math and reading at a local branch
of the Kumon After-School Learning Program. As a program tutor, I work
closely with the Sight Manager in student evaluation, individualized
instruction strategies, and content to accommodate a wide range of
students with varied backgrounds and social/academic needs.
Additionally, I work as an administrative aide for a 4th grade teacher
helping with project grading, lesson planning/preparation and
maintenance of student data. Outside of these part-time jobs, I recently
completed a one-year internship with Future for Kids, a Tempe, AZ based
non-profit organization specializing in supporting the success of at-risk
youth through academics, athletics and ethics. As an internship
participant, I was responsible for implementation of an afterschool
program for elementary aged children who were susceptible to gang
affiliation and/or eventual dropout. My work included creating lessons
and activities, role modeling, conflict resolution, and exposure to a
variety of behavioral problems. This past semester, I also volunteered
