A Tern For The Better

SCENE 1 EXT . SUBURB STREET - DAY, MONTAGE


Scene starts with a long shot, revealing the street and the
DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESMAN.
DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESMAN is walking down the street lugging the
encyclopedias that he has to attempt to sell, he is hunched
over. We see him failing to sell the encyclopedias and
getting doors slammed in his face repeatedly, the
DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESMAN carries on, hunched over, slowly
walking.

SCENE 1 EXT . SUBURB HOUSE - CONTINUOUS


Scene starts with a medium shot of the action.
DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESMAN is attempting to sell an encyclopedia,
he gets rejected and the door SLAMMED in his face, this
startles him and he drops the encyclopedia. It lands open on
a page with information about an arctic tern on it,
explaining that the bird flies the furthest each year.
Focusing on the encyclopedia the DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESMAN
starts imagining it flapping its wings.

SCENE 2 EXT . SUBURB STREET - DAY, FLASHBACK


Scene starts with a close up of the bird, it pulls back to
track the DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESMAN in the shot.
Whilst imagining the bird taking flight, We see it soaring
through the sky, mean while a teenager is skateboarding
around the street below, It's the DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESMAN,
wind blowing through his hair, feeling free.
The DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESMAN looks happy, The flashback ends on
a close up of the DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESMAN
SCENE 3 EXT . THE ZOO - DAY
The scene starts with a close up of the DOOR-TO-DOOR
SALESMAN.
DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESMAN is at the local zoo, in search for the
arctic tern, he stumbles upon the cage with the arctic terns
in. He releases the birds and they fly off into the
distance. Screams and footsteps are heard in the distance.
SCENE 4 EXT . SUBURB STREET - AFTERNOON
The scene starts with a long shot of the DOOR-TO-DOOR
SALESMAN skateboarding towards the camera.

DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESMAN is skating down the street on his


childhood skateboard, while an arctic tern is soaring in the
sky above him. Encyclopedia pages and his tie are thrown
behind him as he skates off down the street.
As he skates off into the sunset, he is silhouetted and the
screen FADES TO BLACK
