Martin Luther King Jr.


Martin Luther King Jr. was an influential leader who brought blacks and whites
together, and helped end segregation. He wrote and gave speeches. He lead people using his
speaking skills to do the right thing. He influenced people to treat each other like brothers and
like each one was as equal as they were. He said We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all
men are created equal. Martin Luther King spent all his life trying to earn rights for his people
and trying to stand against segregation which he soon accomplished.
Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia and soon died on
April 4, 1968.He was remembered as one of the lauded African-Americans leader in history.
(history.com) Martin Luther King Jr. was the middle child and the second child of Martin Luther
King Sr. (1899-1984) a pastor, and Alberta Williams King (1904-1974). He had a older sister
named Christine and one younger brother Alfred Daniel Williams King. Martin was a gifted
student and attended to a public school at the age of 15, and was admitted to Morehouse College.
(history.com) He enrolled a graduate program at the University of Boston. Martin was a
quarterback football players when he was 15 at Booker T. High School.(history.com) He thought
about going into law or medicine while he studied sociology at Morehouse College.

Martin Luther King had four children named Yolanda, Martin Luther King 111, Dexter
Scott, and Bernice. When he was in in working on his doctorate he meet, and later married
Coretta Scott. She was an aspirating singer and musician in June 1953. (biography.com) Not only
was Martin Luther King a civil activist he was also a Baptist Minister until this assassination in
1968.(history.com) Martin is remembered every year for his national holiday and he was also a
noble peace prize winner in 1964.As the president the SCLC elected King for his part in creation
from the beginnings embodied the outlook and intellectual spirit of the group.(history.com)
Martin was a driving force behind the Montgomery bus boycott and march on Washington help
bring legislation as the civil rights act of 1964 and Voting Rights Act of 1965.(history.com)
In Martin Luther King first speech he proclaimed We have no alternative but to protest.
His fresh and skillful put a new energy into a civil rights reform. In the world today there is more
peace, No segregation, King is remembered by his I have a dream speech, We also have a
holiday in remembrance of his birthday, African-Americans are free, There is less discrimination,

and his legacy continues every year with the million man march.(biography.com) Martin played
a huge part in the creation of the SCLC by speaking and preaching on its behalf in both the north
and south. He worked a number of Civil Rights to organize the march on Washington for
freedom and jobs. (sparknotes.com)
Martin Luther King Jr. was an inspiration before he was assassinated. He tried everything
he thought was good for the community. Now in the world today, Blacks and Whites are working
together. Martin Luther King Jr. changed the world by bringing Blacks and Whites together. He
lead people using his speaking skills to do the right thing. Now that Martin has brought
everybody together there is no more segregation and thats whats we need in the world today.
